Outside Japan, chances for a reissue of 'The Peacemaker' are probably slim. There seems to be some kind of reissue program for Argo/Cadet albums in Japan, though.

I'd like to see some Bennie Maupin records on cd, such as JEWEL IN THE LOTUS and SLOWER TRAFFIC TO THE RIGHT. Have there been any re-issues of those?

Yes, it's on Arista, and says (p) & © 1975 Arista Records Inc. But the cover also says "A Black Lion/Freedom recording"...

Is this a new reissue, and how is the sound on this? Should I try to get the vinyl instead?

The attachments in this thread are gone and some posts seem to be missing as well. Since, 'Peace-Maker' has been reissued a couple of times in Japan; the sound on the one I've got (Mini-LP edition from 2005) is as good as you'd wish for. Can only compare with Japanese LP, which predictably sounds good, too.

Latest Japanese reissue is from 2006, I think, and may still be available from Japan. List price is about half of what Honest Jon is asking. Try an email to Hiroshi Tanno of Early Records, you may get away cheaper that way.

EDIT: Have reinstated a couple of the scans above.
