Noj Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 Now that looks cool Daniel A, and my kind of line-up to boot. Any chance it will make it to CD? I know I've picked up a few Cadet re-issues recently, namely Dorothy Ashby's AFRO-HARPING... Quote
Daniel A Posted September 10, 2003 Author Report Posted September 10, 2003 Outside Japan, chances for a reissue of 'The Peacemaker' are probably slim. There seems to be some kind of reissue program for Argo/Cadet albums in Japan, though. Quote
Noj Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 Looks like another good one couw. With that line-up I'd snap it up in a second. I'd like to see some Bennie Maupin records on cd, such as JEWEL IN THE LOTUS and SLOWER TRAFFIC TO THE RIGHT. Have there been any re-issues of those? Quote
Daniel A Posted September 10, 2003 Author Report Posted September 10, 2003 (edited) You beat me, couw!!! My scanner is too slow! And mine isn't even the original cover... Well, here it is, anyway: EDIT: added attacment from lost post from couw: Edited August 21, 2008 by Daniel A Quote
Daniel A Posted September 10, 2003 Author Report Posted September 10, 2003 Yes, it's on Arista, and says (p) & © 1975 Arista Records Inc. But the cover also says "A Black Lion/Freedom recording"... Quote

jostber Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Harold Land The Peacemaker (1967) Harold Land (ts) Bobby Hutcherson (vib) Joe Sample (p) Buster Williams (b ) Donald Bailey (dr) I thought about getting this on from Honest Jon's: http://www.honestjons.com/shop.php?pid=33353 Is this a new reissue, and how is the sound on this? Should I try to get the vinyl instead? Quote
Daniel A Posted August 21, 2008 Author Report Posted August 21, 2008 (edited) The attachments in this thread are gone and some posts seem to be missing as well. Since, 'Peace-Maker' has been reissued a couple of times in Japan; the sound on the one I've got (Mini-LP edition from 2005) is as good as you'd wish for. Can only compare with Japanese LP, which predictably sounds good, too. Latest Japanese reissue is from 2006, I think, and may still be available from Japan. List price is about half of what Honest Jon is asking. Try an email to Hiroshi Tanno of Early Records, you may get away cheaper that way. EDIT: Have reinstated a couple of the scans above.
