porcy62 Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Actually, I am not sure if this is the corrct place to post it. Shouldn't we have " MISCELLANEOUS-NON-POLITICAL VERY STOOPID THING" section for such stuff? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/08/23/...p;attr=_3197168 Quote
7/4 Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 The proposed ordinance would also bar women from showing the strap of a thong beneath their pants. They would also be prohibited from wearing jogging bras in public or show a bra strap, said Debbie Seagraves, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia. That's going too far. Quote
Shawn Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I think people should have the right to look as stupid as they want too... Quote
kh1958 Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I hate that baggy pants look. The worst fashion trend ever. Quote
7/4 Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I really like those thong straps. Makes me happy. Quote
MoGrubb Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I think people should have the right to look as stupid as they want too... Agreed. But, if I had kids living under my roof they wouldn't have that right. I'd be interested to know what kind of luck other towns had with enforcement. ...Earlier this year, the town council in Delcambre, La., passed an ordinance that carries a fine of up to $500 or six months in jail for exposing underwear in public. Several other municipalities and parish governments in Louisiana have enacted similar laws in recent months... Quote
catesta Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 What defines underwear? skidmarks? Quote
Jazzmoose Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 What an interesting idea. What do these puritans do when the kids start going commando? Quote
Noj Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 New USA attire regulations imposed as of 1/1/2020: all citizens must wear the standard-issued jumpsuit bearing the barcode number of the individual's assigned community. Failure to comply will result in immediate deportation to the master correctional facility at Guantanamo Bay. Quote

GA Russell Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I saw a guy over the weekend whose belt was at crotch level. That's too low IMO. Quote
Noj Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Oh, I see the saggy-pants losers all the time. This lame trend started in California with the gangbangers and has been appropriated by thuggish white trash. Looks like they're wearing a diaper that needs changing. Still, Shawn is right, people should have the right to look as stupid as they desire. Quote
porcy62 Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 Still, Shawn is right, people should have the right to look as stupid as they desire. Yep, there are hundreds of awful dress code out there, surely you can't start to appprove laws aginst bad taste, it would be an endless job. Personally I'd go to jail all the late Elvis' like guys. Alexander Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 I know that several schools in my area have banned the baggy-pants look, on the basis that it's easy to hide a firearm in baggy pants or under an oversized t-shirt (also banned). I don't know. As an educator, I certainly understand the need to keep kids safe, but I feel like African-Americans are being targeted here. Can you name a recent fashion trend started by white teens that's been banned (I know that white kids wear the baggy pants, but as a trend it came from the African-American community)? On the other hand, can you name a fashion trend started by white teens? I suppose the goth look would qualify as a white teen fashion trend. So, are schools and communities banning black nail polish? Van Basten II Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 While they're at it, why don't they forbid fat chicks to wear tight clothes Quote

You're more entitled then me about the issue, from what you say, you've got a big problem if the banning fashion is due to firearms. Maybe you should start to ban firearms...a neverending discussion in your country. The funny and sad thing is that if a non U.S.citizen want to fly to U.S. he has to pass a triple X-Ray control at the airport and throw away any dangerous shaving foam and at the same time your teenagers have to wear a lycra pant because of free trade of firearams. Good Luck. Quote
JSngry Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 I got sent home from high school more than once for having sideburns as little as 1/8" below my earlobe. That was stupid and so is this. Quote

I don't think the African-American is being targeted in particular. They just happen to wear the baggy stuff more than others. No sense in getting paranoid about it, imo. Quote
king ubu Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 you're in deep shit! not that we aren't, either, but not just that deep yet... why doesn't dubya ban human reproduction just to ensure the coming reign of the puritan dream? now that would be a good joke to end the administration with, much funnier than tearing out the "w" from all d.c. keyboards!
