alocispepraluger102 Posted August 26, 2007 Author Report Posted August 26, 2007 AWESOME stuff-- i've heard a # of these programs over the years & they're always hot-- the live stuff w/Ted Daniel was killa' & i don't recall hearing it before... Sonny was no Mitch Watkins, hardee-har-har... & thank fuh. the NPR clip w/Bill Cosby giving major props is still pretty weird (even tho' i know Coz is serious jazz fan)... & still right on. edc might go so far as to say any jazz guitarist uninfluenced (in at least some way) by Sonny is goddamn irrelevant, or no better than agile fingers (& there are LOTS of those, the jazz version deserving no more respect others.) Nels Cline comes to mind as the highest profile post-Sonny player but i'm sure Frisell knows & even Pat Metheny... too bad he didn't do the "noise" thing better himself ("Zero Tolerance For Silence," the set w/Bailey) but all credit for knowing he had to try. agreed, the daniel was magnificent. glad you picked up on it. clifford_thornton Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 How does one search within the WKCR broadcasts to get that nugget? I'd like to hear it. Quote
