Thanks - does anyone know if Rudy is still doing new transfers for the U.S. market? Or are these going to be circa 1999-2001 transfers he did for the Japanese series?

The reason I ask is that I purchased a few of the early Japanese RVG titles, including Face to Face, which was one of the infamous, near mono/compressed monstrosities that typified some of the early JRVGs.

Rudy's transfers for the U.S. market after 2001 sound markedly improved, with wider stereo imaging and less aggressive use of compression.

So, are these new U.S RVS brand new 2007 remasterings? Or are they older JRVG remasters that most dislike?

MBL: I don't have any specific insider knowledge but my guess is that these are not the earlier remasterings, but new ones. . . . Whenever I've compared recent RVGs to former JRVGs the remastering IS different (better too).

The only one I don't already have is Gravy Train...and I don't particularly want it.

I really like that session, in fact I probably have spun it more than Blues Walk.

CD Universe is wrong about the Mini LP replica statement. These are regular jewel case reissues from Japan (TOCJ-70xx series). With all the extra material available (as on the US RvG's).
