Thanks - does anyone know if Rudy is still doing new transfers for the U.S. market? Or are these going to be circa 1999-2001 transfers he did for the Japanese series? The reason I ask is that I purchased a few of the early Japanese RVG titles, including Face to Face, which was one of the infamous, near mono/compressed monstrosities that typified some of the early JRVGs. Rudy's transfers for the U.S. market after 2001 sound markedly improved, with wider stereo imaging and less aggressive use of compression. So, are these new U.S RVS brand new 2007 remasterings? Or are they older JRVG remasters that most dislike? Quote
Brad Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Some great recordings there. Have them all mostly. Quote
jazzbo Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 MBL: I don't have any specific insider knowledge but my guess is that these are not the earlier remasterings, but new ones. . . . Whenever I've compared recent RVGs to former JRVGs the remastering IS different (better too). Quote

Adam Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 According to CD Universerse at this time (following the link above), Midnight Special is by Anita Baker. Quote
Roundsound Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Has Face to Face been released before. I have the others. Except for absolute favorites, I stopped the merry go round of buying things 3 times. Quote
jazzbo Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Yes, Face to Face has been out before. Quote

BruceH Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 The only one I don't already have is Gravy Train...and I don't particularly want it. Quote
Clunky Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 I need the Dorham and may get the Smith's Quote
Aftab Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Delightfulee is a great album - Sunrise Sunset and Yesterday are sweet! Quote
Shawn Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 The only one I don't already have is Gravy Train...and I don't particularly want it. I really like that session, in fact I probably have spun it more than Blues Walk. Quote
sal Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 I'm excited to hear "Delightfulee". Have heard many good things about it! Quote
B. Clugston Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 The Dorham is great, but the current CD version sounds fine to me. I'm looking forward to snapping up the Baby Face Willette. Quote
NaturalSoul Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Looking forward to Face 2 Face and Gravy Train. Quote
Bluerein Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 CD Universe is wrong about the Mini LP replica statement. These are regular jewel case reissues from Japan (TOCJ-70xx series). With all the extra material available (as on the US RvG's). Quote
Brad Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Gravy Train is a cool cd. I'd pick it up. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 how are the JRVG versions of Midnight Special, and "Back at the Chicken Shack"? I plan to pick those up when the domestics are released, those need an upgrade badly! Quote
