Chuck Nessa Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Really curious about the first video around the 1:49 - 2:00 mark. There are "cowbell/clamshell" sounds not matching the picture. ? Quote
JSngry Posted August 12, 2007 Author Report Posted August 12, 2007 Yeah, that's a trip. Best I can tell is that it's a rim/stick manipulation in the left hand. Quote
JSngry Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 Up for the new week. Certainly not "jazz" related, but if you're into (or something) rudiments and how far they can be taken, this guy's pretty amazing in that regard anyway. Quote
Tom Storer Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Pretty impressive, all right. I didn't know they talked about "tenor" drums. Is that a drum corps thing? Quote
JSngry Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 My son is really into this stuff & sent me the clips, so I don't really know, but I believe it is. Drum corps and percussion ensemble. Quote
.:.impossible Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 (edited) Kamalesh Maitra : Tabla Tarang The link didn't work... go to video, then click 'play video' under Concert excerpt taken from 'Pandit Kamalesh Maitra - Tabla Tarang - Melody on Drums'. Might get your son interested in Indian Classical... Edited August 13, 2007 by .:.impossible Quote
DukeCity Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Really curious about the first video around the 1:49 - 2:00 mark. There are "cowbell/clamshell" sounds not matching the picture. ? It looks/sounds like there's a woodblock (most likely plastic) mounted between two of the drums. There was another one mounted between some drums on the right-hand side of his set up as well. Pretty fancy work! Quote
