Sorry Dr. J., I didn't get a chance to find a copy of this before this week. However, I really dig the albums that I have where Dickenson appears as a sideman, namely some of Prez' Aladdin sides and the JAZZ GIANTS '56 Lp. Vic could really play any kind of tune: ballads, up-tempo, etc., and sound right at home, cooking on his trombone.

Well, this is more like it! Glad to see some action here, sorry I've been away past couple of days. What Lon said really struck a chord with me also, this is music that just puts me in a good mood almost no matter what is going on in life or the world. The world needs more of this music.

As luck would have it I got the Japanese 2cd set.

Question - should there be a booklet inside the cd case? Mine just has the front and back tray cards. Uncommon for the Japanese cds not to have booklet, or at least a printed page.

My Japanese import did come with a booklet, Dmitry. It may take me some time to get to it, but let me know if you want a copy and I can get you one.

I LOVE IT!

All of it. Been playing non-stop for a couple of days.

The sound on these Japanese cds is stunningly good. Can't believe the music was recorded 50 years ago, it sounds so good.

What a beautiful collection of tunes!

Dmitry, I think you'll love all the domestic Vanguard Jazz Showcase cds; the sound and the music are excellent on these. The whole series is great, the only downside being the way they have been slicing and dicing and placing the various lps on the cds.
