jazzbo Posted August 5, 2007 Report Posted August 5, 2007 I'd be tempted (in your shoes) to call your new band.. .. .. "My New Band." People would remember it. When you wanted to you could always promote it as "Jim Sangrey Presents. . .My New Band." Ego leads to success. Quote
JSngry Posted August 5, 2007 Author Report Posted August 5, 2007 (edited) But dude - "The California Excutives"... DUDE! Edited August 5, 2007 by JSngry Quote
jazzbo Posted August 5, 2007 Report Posted August 5, 2007 Okay I'm trying to see your point. . . . The GW machine in Texas Government has forever tainted my perception and reaction to the word "Executive". . . . Quote
JSngry Posted August 5, 2007 Author Report Posted August 5, 2007 Oh, but those are TEXAS Executives. NEVER cool. These are CALIFORNIA Executives. You know, swimmin' pools, movie stars, Dancing & Romancing, everything you want in an Executive w/o the petro-ignunce. I'm ready for my close-up! Quote
jazzbo Posted August 5, 2007 Report Posted August 5, 2007 Sorry. Here I was thinking "an Executive is an Executive." Quote
MoGrubb Posted August 5, 2007 Report Posted August 5, 2007 The California Executives? man, that shoots the laid back CA lifestyle image all to hell. It rivals "our" Chairmen Of The Board. Quote
Aggie87 Posted August 5, 2007 Report Posted August 5, 2007 Makes me think of the Califonia Raisins. You aren't going to cover "Head it through the Grapevine" are you? Quote
Rosco Posted August 5, 2007 Report Posted August 5, 2007 Who knew? Me!! My 12" copy of 'I Don't Know Why' was much prized back in the day. Quote
JSngry Posted August 5, 2007 Author Report Posted August 5, 2007 Really?!?!?! Tell me more, please! Quote
Rosco Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Really?!?!?! Tell me more, please! I'm not sure I can! That track's gotta be 20 years old and I probably haven't heard it in close to that long. The ol' memory ain't what it used to be.... As I recall, it was a slow smooth soul track with lush harmonies culminating in a startling falsetto that recalled the likes of the Delfonics. The kind of record they just don't make any more (even then). If I remember correctly, the album was full of pedestrian 80's 'soul'. But that one track quickly acquired 'rare groove' status. I haven't thought about that song in ages. Now I want to hear it again. I must still have it here somewhere. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Struth! Get into Heavy Metal, Jim, and you can have a band called Blast Furnace. MG Quote
