king ubu Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 http://www.amazon.de/gp/offer-listing/B000...9321&sr=8-1 I wasn't able to get hold of this - if anyone has a copy for sale or knows of a local shop that still has one... Quote
sidewinder Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Is that price for real? Can't say I've ever seen it before. Quote
David Ayers Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 The Concord site lists it as available. Worth trying? Quote
Swinging Swede Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 As mentioned on the other thread Concord doesn't ship to Europe, which complicates the matter. Quote
king ubu Posted July 25, 2007 Author Report Posted July 25, 2007 Is that price for real? Can't say I've ever seen it before. I haven't seen such a crazy one before, but there are many sellers offering OJCs for 100 $ or € - this is just plain crazy, though, hence I started this thread... Quote
Claude Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Maybe no shipping to Europe, but there are better deals available here: http://product.half.ebay.com/_W0QQprZ3188214 Quote
Niko Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 almost posted that one too, one of the records i regularly look up on my morning visit to amazon.de (one more reasons to get a credit card, i guess) Quote
Swinging Swede Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Europeans can't buy on Half.com either. Quote
LAL Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I should have got this when it was selling at $16. but thought the price was too high then. Oh well, pass. Quote
Niko Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I should have got this when it was selling at $16. but thought the price was too high then. Oh well, pass. it was available for like 10 Euros on amazon.de just two weeks ago but unfortunately just on the day when i had bought that wrong train ticket for 88 Euro... when i got an exceptional refund (many many thanks to SCNF) it was too late Quote
mikeweil Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 This is ridiculous!!! Those sellers are immoral!!! Seriously: Is there no way to alert amazon to this, or do their policies allow anyone to offer anything but offensive items at any price? I sincerely hope nobody will buy at these prices. Quote
mikeweil Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 (edited) Used copies sell at amazon.com for $95.96 or more ... Edited July 26, 2007 by mikeweil Quote
Niko Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 (edited) seems like anybook is specialized on this type of price... http://www.amazon.de/gp/offer-listing/B000...5036&sr=1-2 (the same item cheaper: http://www.amazon.de/gp/offer-listing/B000...5036&sr=1-1 ) Nice is a pricey region i've been told edit: they are sending from Florida so i guess they just translated "Nice book" to "Nizza Buch" - no cities in Southern France involved... mikeweil Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I wonder why Caiman doesn't offer these through amazon.de: They used to offer anything available from Fantasy. Quote
Niko Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I wonder why Caiman doesn't offer these through amazon.de: They used to offer anything available from Fantasy. iirc the 10 Euro copy i mentioned above was from Caiman... Quote

So you probably wouldn't have got it anyway... I saw on Amazon.fr (and .de for the same price, I think) Viviane's "Le show" this morning for 56 Euros. Astounding. http://www.amazon.fr/gp/offer-listing/B000...4612&sr=8-2 MG Quote
Niko Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 So you probably wouldn't have got it anyway... that's what i tell myself, too... doesn't seem like i will get my order of Song of Songs from them either Quote
king ubu Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Posted August 9, 2007 http://www.amazon.fr/gp/offer-listing/B000...6109&sr=8-1 I have several items, including this one, in my caiman queue but caiman sucks as badly as Concord by now, they *NEVER* deliver! I guess they actually live from money that people don't claim back... Quote
king ubu Posted August 20, 2007 Author Report Posted August 20, 2007 http://www.amazon.de/gp/offer-listing/B000...698&sr=1-18 crazy! Quote
Steve Gray Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Some sellers just seem to charge ridiculous price for ordinary items Not sure what the idea is, maybe they think someone will buy by mistake Check the highest prices out on on this link Moanin on UK amazon Quote
king ubu Posted August 20, 2007 Author Report Posted August 20, 2007 That's absolutely ridiculous - if it happens with an easily available disc such as "Moanin'" the sellers ought to be banned from Amazon Marketplace if they don't stop! Quote
Claude Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 I've seen many CDs priced $50-100 on Amazon Marketplace, which were indeed OOP but could still be found at regular price elsewhere. Maybe those Marketplace sellers are counting on someone who needs the disc urgently, and who is willing to pay premium price. I bet those $100 CDs will remain unsold for months or even years. Quote

I guess they actually live from money that people don't claim back... Hmmm .... I always got my money back from Caiman when they couldn't deliver. I guess the availability of Concord/Fantasy items is as unpredictable to them as it is to us. Just never trust the "in stock" statement. I have an order standing for a French classical CD from a Swiss dealer, and they don't deliver nor answer my e-mails for three months now. Caiman returned the money for the very same CD instantly and informed me they couldn't get it. Edited August 20, 2007 by mikeweil Quote

Sorry to hear about that non-delivering seller! I've ordered two discs, with horrendous shipping, for about 40 $ in march (MARCH!) from an ok looking site, and haven't gotten any replies to my inquiring mails... wanted to post about that for a while now here, but at the moment the name of th site escapes me... sucks badly! Sorry to hear that - I never had to demand it back! But OTOH I'm rather cautious with more exotic or OOP items - I'll order this from ebay sellers as they're more likely to have them in stock.
