Brad Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 As usual, I feel bad for all the teams that were relegated, like Cardiff. Huddersfield gave it all they got against Man U even though there was nothing to play for and Manchester played like relegation was on the line for them. Quote
Dmitry Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 ManU still has a theoretical shot at the Champions League. They thought they'd roll over Huddersfield, but good on H. for keeping them at bay. Quote
erwbol Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 (edited) Dutch football magazine VI has an article on their website where they claim the eight minutes where a replacement corner flag was sought were the most exciting of the match. Ziggo Sports tv analyst Wim Kieft* didn't feel like analysing at half time, and they joke he was right and that Ziggo should have cancelled the broadcast by turning the channel to black. The match was godawful, of course. *Remember Euro 88? https://www.dailymotion.com/video/xyr2ux Edited May 6, 2019 by erwbol Quote

Correct me if I'm wrong: PL is allowed 5 teams in the CL. Right now ManU is in the 6th spot, one point behind Arsenal, with both clubs having one match to play. The Europa Cup winner will automatically go into the next CL. Could be either Chelsea(3) or Arsenal(5). Won't it give ManU a shot at the CL, if they bump Arsenal off the 5th berth? Quote
Brad Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 Only four teams qualify for each league, unless they have changed the rules recently. Quote
Dmitry Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 (edited) https://www.premierleague.com/news/671047 *If the winners of the FA Cup finish in the top five, their UEL spot goes to the next-placed team in the PL yet to qualify **If the winners of the EFL Cup finish in the top five, their UEL spot goes to the next-placed team in the PL yet to qualify Should a Premier League club win the UEFA Champions League they will automatically qualify for the group stage of next season’s competition regardless of their league finishing position. A maximum of five Premier League teams are eligible for UEFA Champions League qualification. I'm still confused on that. Edited May 6, 2019 by Dmitry Quote
erwbol Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 (edited) If Liverpool win, wouldn't their top four spot go to a team from a certain country on the UEFA coefficients list? There was a lot of talk over here about the Netherlands rising three spots (so far) on the list to climb above Austria this season. It's a confusing business. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_coefficient Edited May 6, 2019 by erwbol Quote
Dmitry Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 No CL for ManU after all. Sorry for making some as confused as me. Quote
Brad Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 City are on the verge of capturing the title. Kompany hit a beautiful curving shot that the GK could not defend. Quote
Dmitry Posted May 7, 2019 Report Posted May 7, 2019 Salah AND Firmino both are out for tonight's Barca match. Quote

Dmitry Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 One more proof that Messi is a genius footballer, but not a leader. Quote

The atmosphere sounded deafening . Cliched it may be but the crowd really were the 12th man last night. Quote
Brad Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 I’d like to see Ajax win today and I think they will; Spurs have not played well lately. Moreover, if Spurs prevail, Liverpool will surely win and that is the last thing I’d want to see. Quote
mjazzg Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 Spurs, my local team, two miles away. COYS!! However who as a serious football fan hasn't got a soft spot for Ajax. Great history, great legacy throughout Europe and a classic home strip too Quote
