mjazzg Posted June 21, 2018 Report Posted June 21, 2018 (edited) That was a rough match, some nasty tackles. Well deserved win for Croatia who will beat better teams than Argentina in this competition 19 minutes ago, Scott Dolan said: What’s a gool? Edited June 21, 2018 by mjazzg Quote

It has potential, several great players but fails to show us how they could win this WC. They won't. Not yet. In 4 years it'll be theirs. Quote
Brad Posted June 22, 2018 Report Posted June 22, 2018 Messi never seems to enjoy himself with the national team. His demeanor during the playing of the national anthem was a tip off. Perhaps he should retire from the team. In a way, he’s not really Argentine in that he grew up in Spain and spends a considerable amount of time there. Maybe he should become a Spanish citizen. Quote

He's got virtually no support from the midfield. Messi only touched the ball twice in the penalty box in the second half. Aquero touched the ball just 7 times in all of the 1st half, and none in the second. I'd throw away their coach right now, and install Messi as a playing coach. Croats were amazing tonight. The Modric goal....he made that douchebag Otamendi look a fool, and then...a beauty! Edited June 22, 2018 by Dmitry Quote

Moreover, the team is poor and are lucky to be here. I see Nigeria giving them a tough time. Quote
Dmitry Posted June 22, 2018 Report Posted June 22, 2018 Messi has now gone almost 700 minutes in the WC matches without scoring a goal. Ouch. Quote
Brad Posted June 22, 2018 Report Posted June 22, 2018 Here's an interesting article from the Times about Peru. Keeping a Fading Language Alive Quote
soulpope Posted June 22, 2018 Report Posted June 22, 2018 Costa Rica on the move .... ? Neymar tries to "dive" for a penalty .... ejection should be looming ahead ... Quote
Brad Posted June 22, 2018 Report Posted June 22, 2018 Navas was good as he can be but the dike burst eventually. If you can't score you can't win. I don't see all of the second half but CR had one great scoring chance in the first half but not many after that. Quote

Brad Posted June 23, 2018 Report Posted June 23, 2018 I didn't see a lot of the other two games -- the matchups weren't scintillating for me -- but I was glad to see Nigeria win. When Brasil plays Serbia, the ref should have a quick whistle because I'm sure the Serbs will try to be extremely physical and the ref needs to make sure Neymar isn't mugged. Quote
Brad Posted June 23, 2018 Report Posted June 23, 2018 (edited) That second Belgium goal was brilliantly executed. Tunisia just pulled one back. Could be an entertaining match. Edited June 23, 2018 by Brad Quote
soulpope Posted June 23, 2018 Report Posted June 23, 2018 Very strong performance by Belgium .... should raise some eyebrows .... Quote
Dmitry Posted June 23, 2018 Report Posted June 23, 2018 My top teams so far - Spain Portugal Croatia Mexico Belgium (the best attacking force in the WC, and somewhat of a leaky defense, but they still win big in my book). It's a do or die for Germany today. Quote

mjazzg Posted June 23, 2018 Report Posted June 23, 2018 Mexico looking good today. Great counter-attacking play Quote
Brad Posted June 23, 2018 Report Posted June 23, 2018 A good victory. South Korea were a little unlucky with that handball. The goal by SK was a heck of a shot. I have to think Germany would have preferred a Mexican loss. Quote
Brad Posted June 23, 2018 Report Posted June 23, 2018 Things are not going well for Die Mannschaft. Quote
