Dmitry Posted June 16, 2018 Report Posted June 16, 2018 Messi choked again. Don't they know better not to have him take the penalty kicks?! Quote
Brad Posted June 16, 2018 Report Posted June 16, 2018 (edited) He has missed five of his ten PKs. I’m sure he’s not too happy that CR showed him up. The Croatia Nigeria match was a bit droll although by that time I’d probably seen enough for the day. Edited June 16, 2018 by Brad Quote
Brad Posted June 17, 2018 Report Posted June 17, 2018 An annoying loss by the Tico to a team whose players are extremely annoying. Quote
mjazzg Posted June 17, 2018 Report Posted June 17, 2018 (edited) Kolarov's free kick was up there with Ronaldo's, possibly better. The better team won I thought. If Serbia can be more consistent they certainly have the flair and (sometimes annoying) physicality to upset opponents. And, I've just noticed that the thread title is definitely missing an "a" if not more... Edited June 17, 2018 by mjazzg Quote
Brad Posted June 17, 2018 Report Posted June 17, 2018 I can't disagree with you that they were a better team but I have a distaste for their players (and the country generally). I hope they're taught a lesson in their next match Quote
Brad Posted June 17, 2018 Report Posted June 17, 2018 Terrific match so far. Hard to say who’s better, even though Mexico has the lead. Quote

Brad Posted June 17, 2018 Report Posted June 17, 2018 An historic win. I was convinced until the whistle that Germany would score. Opening matches are not kind to WC Champs. Quote
brownie Posted June 17, 2018 Report Posted June 17, 2018 Great game. Quite a stunner! The Mexicans deserved to win. Quote

mikeweil Posted June 17, 2018 Report Posted June 17, 2018 The Mexican coach was clever, saw the weak spot in the German defense early on and instructed his team - they tried the same trick a dozen times and scored. I wonder why neither Löw nor his players did notice. They woke up much too late. Quote
Royal Oak Posted June 17, 2018 Report Posted June 17, 2018 6 games watched so far this weekend, with one more yet to come. Looking forward to the country grinding to a halt tomorrow after work. Quote
mjazzg Posted June 17, 2018 Report Posted June 17, 2018 Well played Switzerland. They weren't afraid to go after the Brazilians and deserved the draw Quote

Mexico's win was the highlight of the day's play. Germany appeared pretty diffident. I'm sure they'll improve and wake up to their own combined talent. Quote

They weren't afraid to go after the Brazilians and deserved the draw They must've tackled Neymar at least a dozen times; he drew three yellow cards on their players. This is not a "beautiful game". That being said, Mexico looked a lot better than Brazil did today. Cojones were sorely missing from the pentacampeoes... Quote
Brad Posted June 18, 2018 Report Posted June 18, 2018 Unfortunately, I missed the Brasil game although it couldn’t have topped the Mexico game. I thought the ref did a great job in letting the players play. It’s shaping up as a very good tournament. Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted June 18, 2018 Report Posted June 18, 2018 (edited) Cannot say that I am a fan and don't follow it closely (within the limits of what you can AVOID reading and seeing about it here in the media at all) but I must say it is highly interesting to see how this (Association) Football World Championship is being commented on here from all around the globe. Fascinating and entertaining, so keep it up, everybody ... Edited June 18, 2018 by Big Beat Steve Quote
Brad Posted June 18, 2018 Report Posted June 18, 2018 You guys must be happy with the start so far Quote
mjazzg Posted June 18, 2018 Report Posted June 18, 2018 Good first half for England. Impressive attacking but defence looks a bit uncertain. Need to convert some of these chances, obviously Quote
