erwbol Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 Champions League playoffs tonight. Manchester United - Club Brugge. Should be worth watching. Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 6, 2015 Author Report Posted September 6, 2015 Fans of the beautiful game from out city are going crazy, Didier Drogba is about to sign with the team. He'll be a short term help but hopefully he'll be a boost at the gate , tam is struggling attendance wise with a fan base of only 5000 ticket season holders.Drogba finally made his first start with the team, he played as a sub two weeks ago and missed the two next games because of a toe injure, he did come back with a vengeance as a scored three straight goals one with the left, the right and the head in a wild win for the locals over the Chicago Fire. Needless to say that the crowd went bunkers !!! Quote
erwbol Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 What a talent Martial is. The third goal by Mata, however, was preceded by so much passing and possession it must have driven the whiners nuts. Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 21, 2015 Author Report Posted September 21, 2015 Terrific game in a "volatle" atmosphere in Marseilles with the return of Valbuena in an enemy uniform Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 23, 2015 Author Report Posted September 23, 2015 The fifth goal was an absolute cracker ! Quote
erwbol Posted September 26, 2015 Report Posted September 26, 2015 Dick will try to put one more in than Louis this afternoon. Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 27, 2015 Author Report Posted September 27, 2015 Didier Drogba is amazing to watch live, he's killing defenses by himself Quote

Brad Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 Madrid's performance against Barca was an absolute disgrace. The Spanish daily Marca posed the following question: do the players not respond to Benitez or does he not know how to coach them? Whatever the reason, they need to bring back Ancellotti. Quote
Brad Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Inevitable. A team with this much talent shouldn't be so close to the relegation zone. Quote
Van Basten II Posted February 6, 2016 Author Report Posted February 6, 2016 Two words Leicester City Quote
papsrus Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) OK I'm in. Followed Leicester City's run to the Premier League championship this spring and have gotten kind of hooked on soccer. (Watching a rock 'em, sock 'em Bundesliga relegation match on replay between Bremen and Stuttgart right now! Bremen's rolling. ... A warmup for the Champions league match between Real Madrid and Manchester City later today) ... Have been reading up on the various Euro leagues and teams, getting acquainted with the power teams, the history of the sport, etc. Now, I just have to pick a favorite team somewhere. I like Tottenham in the Premier just because they seem to be a quality, mid-level team, pretty rich history, usually in the hunt (especially this year) but never quite get over the top -- at least recently. Also, I just like saying "Tottenham Hotspur." Plus we get select Premier League games broadcast in the U.S. now, so I'd be able to follow them. As far as leagues go, is the Bundesliga generally considered to be more wide open offensively than in other European leagues? This game I'm watching now (Bremen-Stuttgart) seems really wide open! Just went final at 6-2! Either that, or defensive play in the Bundesliga is ... not good. Mind you, this is a relegation match, so ... Anyways, some of you soccer experts lay some knowledge on me about what I should watch for, what leagues are best, how they differ, etc. I'm a sponge at this point. Brad Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 I think Bayern will flourish under him, not that they've done badly under Guardiola. They just couldn't win the Champions League. The final will be tough. Athletico always finds a way to beat RM. Quote
Brad Posted April 11, 2018 Report Posted April 11, 2018 With Barcelona out (how sweet that sounds!), the way is now open for Real Madrid (assuming they can win today; fingers crossed) to win a third consecutive Champions League Quote
mjazzg Posted April 11, 2018 Report Posted April 11, 2018 Here's hoping one of the "underdog" sides can upset the odds this year. Liverpool or Roma or maybe even Sevilla if they can pull off another shock. It's not Real Madrid's quite yet Quote
