uli Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 The fact, they made it a field of 24 , makes it almost pointless. t don' remember. what did they do before? 16? Quote
Van Basten II Posted March 28, 2015 Author Report Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) Yep. which already was a watered version of the original format Meanwhile going to the stadium, famous vistors as Kaka sports the colours of our opponents as Orlando visits Montreal Edited March 28, 2015 by Van Basten II Quote
Van Basten II Posted March 31, 2015 Author Report Posted March 31, 2015 Pretty tough to make any meaning of week 4 in MLS as teams fielded what reminded me lineups from Grapefruit league action. I'll settle to say that the big winners were KC and the Energy drinks from New York who got an away win out of it . Wild ending in Salt Lake against Toronto which saw the Real earn their first win of the season. Dallas is no longer perfect but remains undefeated. Vancouver got another late goal win thanks to newcomer Earnshaw.. Next win should be fun friday night action features offensive minded Orlando receiving defensive minded DC , late saturday night action will showcase intriguing west division showdowns the bigger one will be the hot Whitecaps hosting the Galaxy , Easter action will mainly feature another matchup with two west conference team between San Jose and Salt Lake. Van Basten II Posted April 7, 2015 Author Report Posted April 7, 2015 French Classico was a whole lot of fun, C. Ronaldo scored 5 goals in a 9-1 demolition of Grenada, he has more goalsby himself than 14 whole teams of the same championship --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MLS news, we have a new sheriff in town as the Whitecaps have taken the top spot thanks to a magnificen performance against the Galaxy, Dallas bite th dust in Portland , Javier Morales showed his stuff for Salt Lake to help them handle San Jose. Homeless Toronto lost for the third time in a row. Orlando lost again in the last moment of a game, the hangman was Luis Silva. In the less honorable department Colorado has yet to score a goal. A lot of action this week, first Montreal will try to earn a final berth as they'll try to hold on to a 2-0 lead in Alajuela against the Costarican side. Another early matchup takes place wednesday night as league leaders Vancouver welcomes Columbus . Friday night action will hum feature the hum goalless Rapids as they visit Dallas who will try to bounce back from their first lost. Early saturday action will feature the Revs welcoming a busy Columbus side , game of the evening is rivals DC and Red Bulls who faced up again with the top spot in the East in the balance . Sunday top game will see two darlings of the league face up as LA and Seattle meet in Seattle. Quote
Van Basten II Posted April 9, 2015 Author Report Posted April 9, 2015 Eventful semi-finals in Champions league while my Montreal Impact survived an onslaught, being pelted by garbage , money, racist insults and even a shoe to hold on and qualify nonetheless thanks to an away goal rule while losing the second leg 4-2 to Alajuelense . Costa-Rica saw it's last chance to see a team qualify for the finals dissapear as Herediano coming with a 3-0 lead in Azteca Stadium allowed two goals in the 8 first minutes, it was 5-0 for America and Heredia was reduced to 10 and it was all over for El Team. So the final will take place in both famous stadiums, our costly Olympic Stadium and the even more mythical Azteca. Quote
T.D. Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Classic lineup in Champions League semis: Barcelona, Bayern, Juventus, Real Madrid. I thought Porto had a chance to KO Bayern, but they got annihilated in 2nd leg. Quote
Van Basten II Posted April 23, 2015 Author Report Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) Meanwhile in the North American competition of the same name we played America in front of more 105 000 spectators and we managed a 1-1 draw in their house, second leg in Montreal next wednesday for all the marbles. It will be rocking !!!! Edited April 23, 2015 by Van Basten II Quote
Brad Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Odd performance from Athletico, missing all the pressure they have applied to Real in the past. Imagine what the score would have been had Real been at full strength. Hoping that Real takes on Juve as that's quite doable. Quote
Van Basten II Posted April 29, 2015 Author Report Posted April 29, 2015 Gameday n Montreal , more than 60 000 are expected for the second leg of the final, , am not going to be productive at work today. Quote
Van Basten II Posted May 11, 2015 Author Report Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) Real likely blew his last chance to win the title in Spain, CR7 missed a penalty in a wildly entertaining game that ended 2-2 , which means the gap is 4 points between the leaders Bracelona and them. Also the threat of a strike may abort the remains of the season. If the season keeps up Barca has its toughest task next week as they visit 3rd place and defending champs Atletico Madrid, in the last game they'll be receiving Deportivo fighting for survival in the first division. R%eal has an easiest task receiving Getafe and visting Espanyol both teams in the second part of the table and little to play for. As it stands, a win for the side led by Messi and Co will confirm the title for the Catalan side. Edited May 11, 2015 by Van Basten II Quote
uli Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 thks on you update on the spanish league. waiting for the rematch between munich and barca reading up a bit on the possible strike. interesting issue. Quote
Brad Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 The La Liga race is definitely over. I can't say how Barcelona will lose it at this point. Madrid's only hope is to win the UCL. If they don't, Ancellotti will probably lose his job, a shame. Quote
uli Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 Madrid's only hope is to win the UCL. If they don't, Ancellotti will probably lose his job, a shame. well, they are out' Quote
Brad Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 The League to Barca I can only hope Juve denies them the UCL title. Quote
Brad Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 Looks like Ancellotti is out at Real Madrid, according to MARCA. Benitez seems to be a likely choice. Bad move to fire the man who won you the Copa del Rey and the Decima. Quote
Van Basten II Posted May 23, 2015 Author Report Posted May 23, 2015 Regarding Real, they are rumours that PSG are making a bid to take away CR7 from them. Quote
Brad Posted May 24, 2015 Report Posted May 24, 2015 Yes, I saw that. In big matches, he seem to disappear. He was invisible in the second match at Juve and almost a no show in last year's UCL championship match against Athletico. Quote
Brad Posted May 30, 2015 Report Posted May 30, 2015 Messi was incredible today in Barca's Copa del Rey victory. I obviously don't like Barcelona but his first goal was a thing of beauty. Quote
Van Basten II Posted May 31, 2015 Author Report Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) Agreed, must say I'm a Barca fan though another player shined in another final yesterday, Kevin De Bruyne showed his stuff as he led Wolfsburg to a win over Dortmund in the German Cup. I doubt he'll be there for long, expect the Belgian to move to a bigger club during the summer break. Meanwhile FA Cup was even more one sided than expected. erwbol Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 Netherlands 3 - 4 USA Congratulations! I didn't watch the match, but I assume our defence was an embarrassment. It's likely we won't make it to EURO 2016 in France, and if we do it'll be a joke. Quote
Brad Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 Well, today is the big game. With Chiellini out, Juve is in serious trouble. I'm sure Suarez will miss him Quote
mjazzg Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 Chiellini's injury's a real shame, the reacquaintance with Suarez aside. I'd've loved to watch him up against 'the Trident' to see whether the master of the defensive dark arts (and quite a few lighter ones) could stymie their progress. As a neutral I'm going to be enjoying the contrast in playing styles of the two teams. Can't really see Juve winning it but it will interesting if they get a lead with barca's defence not that strong really and prone to being exposed by swift counter attack Quote
Brad Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 Better match than I expected, particularly after the opening goal. It got interesting after the tying goal. Too bad Buffon couldn't have held onto the shot that Suarez buried. Juve fought till the end but not enough. Glad to see Xavi got into the match for his final match. He's had a hell of a career.
