Van Basten II
Saw the Super Cup between Sevilla and Milan, quite a good game. Class touch by the Milan side to wear Huerta's name on their uniform. Liked how Sevilla players celebrated their goal bu saluting their late teammate. Brad
Liverpool was on fire today. Of course, consider the competition. Looks like Derby is headed back to the Championship for sure.
J.A.W.
Was the Real-Atletico game broadcasted in Europe ? There were problems that did not allow the broadcast of the game either live or on delay in North-America :bwallace2: It wasn't, don't know why. J.A.W.
Liverpool was on fire today. Of course, consider the competition. Looks like Derby is headed back to the Championship for sure. The problem is that the gap between the top teams and the rest is widening fast, not only in England but also elsewhere in Europe. In Germany Bayern MĂ¼nchen is already ahead of the pack after only 3 games...
Van Basten II
Was the Real-Atletico game broadcasted in Europe ? There were problems that did not allow the broadcast of the game either live or on delay in North-America :bwallace2: It wasn't, don't know why. I learned why, forgot to mention it on this thread. Here's the reason. Saturday, August 25, 2007 TV Coverage of Madrid Derby Goes Black Viewers in the United States and around the world were upset this weekend after the scheduled clash between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid was not shown on TV. In the United States, GolTV showed the Bayern Munich against Hannover match instead of the Madrid derby. The reason the Madrid derby wasn't shown worldwide was due to a dispute between Audiovisual Sport and Mediapro in Spain. According to The Guardian newspaper, Audiovisual believes it is owed $80 million from Mediapro from last season. With that amount of money in dispute, it may take quite some time before viewers are ensured they won't miss any matches. Complicating the matters is the story that Audiovisual is planning on suing Mediapro. Let's hope this unfortunate disagreement is resolved as soon as possible so we don't miss out on La Liga. Van Basten II
Had to subscribe to Rai international to watch some Calcio games. Watching football on that network is like being back in the 70s. No graphics to tell us the score, lineups or the time. Camera changes are not always smooth. Giostra del gol for our North American eyes is run as poorly as it could. All we need is a flashing R when they show a replay and the illusion would be perfect. Van Basten II
Domestic competition is relegated to Euro qualifiers. Will be obviously watching saturday the France game against the %&?##$# Italians, my apologies to the fine Italian people who have nothing to do with their national football team

JohnJ
Nice to see England finally play some decent football. The 3-0 win against Russia was the best I have seen them play in a long time.

Rai International's is one the worst branchs of italian national broadcasting system. Obviously there are some cash reasons, Murdoch, for the 70s taste for football matches. Rai International was first conceveid for the italians who live abroad, long term immigrants included. The bad thing is that is a kind of showtime of the worst Rai produces, and a huge waste of money for tax payers. In general I would say that RI is the appropriate picture of the country and its vices.

Van Basten II
Back to domestic action my picks for the weekend, friday Dortmund against Bremen, saturday Bayern against Shalke and sunday the returning from purgatory Juventus are facing Roma. Van Basten II
Champions League starts today, most intriguing game probably Liverpool against Porto, although Shalke against Valencia looks good on paper. They're probably going to fight for the second spot in the b Group. Real and Milan should have an easy time to qualify in their own group. A Marseille 20:45 BeÅŸiktaÅŸ JK A Porto 20:45 Liverpool B Chelsea 20:45 Rosenborg B Schalke 20:45 Valencia C Real Madrid 20:45 Bremen C Olympiacos 20:45 Lazio D Milan 20:45 Benfica D Shakhtar 20:45 Celtic
Van Basten II
Madrid-Bremen was quite a good entertaining game, Bremen of course ended up short. Porto maybe deserved a better fate against a Liverpool side that earned a draw Italian style. Tomorrow, a lot of interesting games. In my book all the e group games will be must see tv, also Sevilla and Arsenal should be a close one. E Rangers 20:45 Stuttgart E Barcelona 20:45 Lyon F Roma 20:45 Dynamo Kyiv F Sporting 20:45 Man. United G PSV 20:45 CSKA Moskva G Fenerbahçe 20:45 Internazionale H Arsenal 20:45 Sevilla H Slavia 20:45 Steaua
Van Basten II
Weekend is coming, a lot of good stuff football wise mostly sunday. Saturday all our eyes will be turned in Barcelona when they will receive Sevilla. Sunday, now it's true Roma and Juventus will meet , followed by MU-Chelsea. After those games NFL will start. Great day for a couch potato.
Van Basten II
Pretty entertaining game between Juventus and Roma, not sure that Juve deserved the point, Roma missed a lot of chances though. Thought that Juventus had a kit that looked like the Sampdoria outfit. What the heck was it all about. Talk about weird kits, how about the one wore by Sevilla saturday, pink, salmon ? Whatchever you want to call it, still not a color that looks good on a football player.
Van Basten II
Chelsea Mourinholess looked dismal and harmless against a dominant MU side. 2-0 does not tell the story, 2 to -5 would be more appropriate.
sal
Just got back from a two week trip to Europe, and it was amazing how much publicity the departure of Mourinho got! It was the top story across Spainish news channels for days. Anyways, had the memorable opportunity to watch the Barca/Lyon game in a seedy bar in Barcelona....a wonderful experience! Anyways, I've returned to the states with a renewed passion for the beautiful game and have made the decision to immediately order Direct TV along with every soccer channel they offer.
