Cliff Englewood Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 Needless to say I'm really looking forward to Sunday, it's the optimism that kills you... The Joy of Six: great Liverpool v Arsenal moments and matches Quote
Brad Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Does Carlos Tevez plan to retire??? I can't believe it. At the age of 26? That sounds crazy. Either he really wants to return home or he's looking for a better payday. Quote
B. Goren. Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Mario Balotelli is on his way to Manchester City. I beleive Roberto Mancini knows what he's doing. I saw Balotelli playing with the Italian young national team one year ago and he really impressed me. Quote
B. Goren. Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 (edited) Aston Villa 3, West Ham United 0. West Ham looks terrible. They have to wake up, otherwise they will spend most of the season in the relegation zone. Edited August 14, 2010 by B. Goren. Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 Aston Villa 3, West Ham United 0. West Ham looks terrible. They have to wake up, otherwise they will spend most of the season in the relegation zone. Eh, it's only the first game of the season, relax a bit. :g Quote
Brad Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 West Brom got a heck of a welcome back from Chelsea. The relegation watch looks to be on already. Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Just how much of a dickhead is Craig Bellamy, obviously a very big one. Craig Bellamy banned by Manchester City Quote
Matthew Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 The difference in quality between Blackpool and Arsenal is amazing, not even close. I'm giving soccer a chance this year as a replacement to American football, which I do not like in the least. Quote
Van Basten II Posted August 21, 2010 Author Report Posted August 21, 2010 Arsenal-Blackpool was not much of a game, much interesting was Hamburg-Shalke 04, in his Bundesliga debut Raul was outstaged by his former Real Madrid teammate RVN who helped his team prevail by scoring two goals. Quote
Brad Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Looks like Blackpool came down to earth, very roughly too! West Ham looks to be in a littke bit of trouble already. Quote

The problem is that West Ham's players are also relaxed. IIRC, their next games are Chelsea and Manchester United... Edited August 22, 2010 by B. Goren. Quote
Brad Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Unless a real miracle happens, they are going to be in real trouble: no points out of 12. Quote
Van Basten II Posted August 22, 2010 Author Report Posted August 22, 2010 Whay the heck the Magpies keeper was not carded, not that it would have matter in the long run but still, in a few minutes Michael Ballack returns to Bundesliga. Quote
Van Basten II Posted August 24, 2010 Author Report Posted August 24, 2010 3 combined results of EPL games seen this weekend 15-0, was lucky I did not watch the Chelsea game ! I enjoy goals but I do enjoy more competitiveness. Quote
Brad Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 It is pretty unbelievable, particularly Chelsea. Wonder how many times that has happened. Their GF average can only go down from here! Quote
B. Goren. Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Manchester City- Liverpool: 3-0. Roy Hodgson and his team are in troubles. Hodgson: "Mascherano's head has been turned by interest from Barcelona." Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Manchester City- Liverpool: 3-0. Roy Hodgson and his team are in troubles. Hodgson: "Mascherano's head has been turned by interest from Barcelona." I was disappointed with the Liverpool performance they never really got started and City didn't really have to earn the win, but to say the team is in trouble is way off the mark. It's 2 games into the season and they're in trouble??? And to be honest, Mascherano's head was turned by interest from Barcelona, like last year when they wanted to buy him and couldn't afford him, just like now, but he has clearly stated he wants to leave England, so that's not really news, what was different was this time he asked not to be selected for the game, which is very unprofessional. Roy Hodgson vents anger at Javier Mascherano for skipping defeat If I was a West Ham or Wigan fan I might be worried, not because of the way they started this season but more due to the fact that it's very similar to the way they finished last season. Blackpool are pretty much doomed anyway but that's partly down to themselves really, their stadium isn't even ready FFS, but that 3rd place play-off thing might be exciting to watch but it usually puts a team that's not PL quality into the PL, it's stupid. After a World Cup it's always a bit funny for a while and you won't really know the strenght of anyone's squad until all the comings and going are sorted out next Tuesday when the transfer window closes. B. Goren. Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Cliff, We have a lot of disagreements lately... I have a lot of sympathy to Liverpool and I hope you're right. Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Cliff, We have a lot of disagreements lately... I have a lot of sympathy to Liverpool and I hope you're right. Sorry, but I wasn't aware of any disagreements, just different opinions, however I fail to see how anyone could be seriously worried about any team after 2 games. I'm pretty sure Liverpool don't need sympathy at this stage, they just need some new owners. Here's some perspective for you; Roy Hodgson stands by Mascherano Liverpool omission. Liverpool stuck in suspended animation without new investment Quote
Van Basten II Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 A few entertaining games during the qualification stage of the Champions league, glad to see Bremen qualify in a game that had a few turnarounds. The shock of the day came from Braga who eliminated Seville in what seemed to look like a tremendous game. Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 More about Mascherano being a dick; Masch suffers player backlash And it seems to be catching on; Stoke City manager Tony Pulis reads riot act as 'disrespectful’ Asmir Begovic stokes fire Quote
B. Goren. Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 This evening I'll cross my fingers for Tottenham Hotspur. I'm sure they can make it. Quote
Van Basten II Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 (edited) By the way Young Boys has to be the worse name for a football team, can't help but think about a bunch of players being molested by their manager between games -Hey mate wanna play with the Young Boys - Huh think I'll pass (...)
