rythemgrl Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 (edited) I was excited to hear the other day from my friend who worls at Concord Records that there is going to be a new Ella Fitzgerald record with some pretty rare collaborations on it. I remember a few months ago getting an Ella tribute record but this one is going to be an HD CD with collaborations with ella and the like of count bassie and the london symphony orchestra. Thats going to sound great on my stereo. Thanks Ella fans keep it real -Jen Edited July 20, 2007 by rythemgrl Quote

Spontooneous Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 (edited) When one of the artists involved is dead, it ain't collaboration. No matter what the company says. Edited July 4, 2007 by Spontooneous Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Can I make a record with Ray Charles? Please. Quote
T.D. Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 What's a "5.1 system"? Is this a double shill, for both Concord and some audio manufacturer? Quote
robviti Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 What's a "5.1 system"? Is this a double shill, for both Concord and some audio manufacturer? 5.1 is a surround sound system. as to your other question, this is an excerpt from her first post: To all my fellow Ella Fitzgerald fans out there, I need your help. My name is Jen and I work for UMG. Quote
Spontooneous Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Let's not punish Jen for being honest about who her employer is. And let's never lose sight of one of our board's most important goals: Taking shill-originated threads and derailing them by any means necessary! Quote
md655321 Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I particularly like the irony of 'keep it real' at the end. Quote
GA Russell Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I think she's talking about the Starbucks/Concord release we discussed here: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...mp;hl=Starbucks So I guess the idea is that by promoting all Ella recordings, UMG/Verve will get its share of the pie. It would be nice if her posts were a little more informative, but they're harmless, and I don't find them aggravating. Quote
md655321 Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Says the man who gets free cd's from record companies so you talk about them here... I find all spam incredibly annoying. On this board it isnt too bad, but it is incessant on some boards and its is very frustrating. Quote
JSngry Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 I got that one where Ella forgets the words. Who could forget that?! Some DJ oughta chop that shit up and make it collaborate with Joe McPhee, Dave Garroway, & one of them Melvin Van Peebles A&M sides (I got a 45 of "Lilli Did The..." if source material is needed). Collaborate is where it's at today, bay-bee! Quote
ep1str0phy Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 I'm all over Ella Meets the Last Poets: Live at Carnegie Hall. Thanks for the heads up, clem. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Went to Starbucks in search of Ella and Paul but it isn't in stock yet. Quote
7/4 Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Looking forward to Ella and the Pipes of Pan at Joujouka. Quote
Free For All Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 That Ella really has rythem. Jazzy, too. Quote
JSngry Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 I got a MGM yellow-label DJ promo 45 (the kind with a "lion" doing an anthromorphich Dick Clark imitation) of Ella corlaboreating with Elsie the Borden Cow called "Elmer's New Tune Ain't No Bull". Arrangement by Frank DeVol. Quote
