Peter Johnson
My wife and I are heading to NYC on Saturday because she needs to shop for a dress! Accordingly, I intend to get some gitback by indulging in an afternoon of crate digging. Other than Jazz Record Center and Academy Records' jazz location, are there other places any of you can recommend? I recall a book store in/near the Village that used to have a fairly nice selection, and you can occasionally get lucky at Bleecker St. Bob's, but how about some hidden gems? Thanks in advance, everyone! Peter
skeith
There's a place called Stooz in the East Village, it's on 7th street (or maybe 6th) very close to Tompkins Square Park. They have some rare birds there.
Peter Johnson
Thanks, skeith--I think that's the place I'm thinking of. Anyone else? Thanks!
jmjk
and you can occasionally get lucky at Bleecker St. Bob's, Can someone tell me WHERE Bleeker Bob's is? I've stumbled on it about half a dozen times by accident, yet, each time I try to find it again, I get lost. I actually thought he closed down! Peter - there's a half-decent place called Footlights. I'll post the address in a sec.

skeith
JMJK, Bleecker Bob's is not on Bleecker, but west 3rd street, fairly close to 6th Ave. near the Blue Note Club. At least it was last time I was there.
skeith
Actually Peter, It occurs to me that the place you are thinking of is Kim's on St. Marks Place, they do have some Jazz Lps on the second floor, but not as many as the other places that have been mentioned in this thread.
