MoGrubb Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 What? Has the board been down? Nah, we all just took a week off to go cooter fishin'. The board looks marvelous, simply mahvelous. Quote
paul secor Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 Ain't no place like home! Thanks, Jim, for getting all of us back together again. Quote
ASNL77 Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 (edited) Good to be back! Just one thing; Where are the links to Amazon, CDnow etc that we can use to buy music and donate to Organissimo? Can't find them! Edited July 1, 2007 by ASNL77 Quote
Chas Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 First off, a tip of the hat to Jim for getting this ship righted . I would like to join the other senescents in calling for a larger-sized typeface . Count me among those who prefer the old peach & lavender color scheme as well . This blue skin is rather generic , and this place now looks like a lot of other boards , including the one at allaboutjazz . I notice that all the personal photos in the member profiles are gone as well . Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 I notice that all the personal photos in the member profiles are gone as well . Probably gone since the new requirement seems to be 150 x 150. We all want to be larger. Quote

Can't find them! See Jim's post #4 in this thread: There are still some skinning issues I need to contend with, like adding a donate button again, the CDUniverse search bar, etc. I'll get to that later, but for all intents and purposes we are back in action! chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 Sorry Alfredo, but the new forum blows: its like what happened when they changed the BNBB all up-- it doesnt crash my browser, but now it asks for my password everytime i go on, and doesnt save my cookies or something. the old look was way better too. Chewy says: REISSUE THE OLD ORGANSISSMO board Quote
Guy Berger Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 now it asks for my password everytime i go on, and doesnt save my cookies or something. I've had this problem as well. the old look was way better too. I feel the same way, but I figure I'll completely adapt within a month or two. Guy Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 1, 2007 Author Report Posted July 1, 2007 First off, a tip of the hat to Jim for getting this ship righted . This blue skin is rather generic , and this place now looks like a lot of other boards , including the one at allaboutjazz . I notice that all the personal photos in the member profiles are gone as well . I will create a larger font skin soon. I will not go back to the lavendar and peach however. I am going to work on this skin a bit more to create a look that coincides with the look of the new organissimo homepage. The personal section of the forum is completely new, which is why the photos are no longer there. It uses an entirely different set of code. But I think it is pretty neat! I am toying with the idea of adding blog capabilities to the software, which means you could all have your own blog hosted here, have a friends network, etc. Sorry Alfredo, but the new forum blows: its like what happened when they changed the BNBB all up-- it doesnt crash my browser, but now it asks for my password everytime i go on, and doesnt save my cookies or something. the old look was way better too. Chewy says: REISSUE THE OLD ORGANSISSMO board This software is using a more secure form of cookies. Most likely your browser is out of date and doesn't recognize them. I suggest updating your browser. I remember you saying your computer is older. If you're using IE and cannot update, I suggest switching to Firefox as it is smaller, more efficient, and will probably run better on your machine. I am not restoring the "old" board. I couldn't even if I wanted to. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 1, 2007 Author Report Posted July 1, 2007 the old look was way better too. I feel the same way, but I figure I'll completely adapt within a month or two. Guy You will get used to it. I have the same reaction when suddenly a frequently visited website is changed. In a few weeks it will feel like an old pair of shoes. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 In a few weeks it will feel like an old pair of shoes. Don't need any more old shoes. Quote
ep1str0phy Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 The new format is a little easier on the eyes, IMO--always a good thing, granted how much time you can spend here... Thank you staff... and a hearty "welcome back" for the board! Quote
bertrand Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 Testing if I can post - I couldn't yesterday. BTW, the link to this forum form the home page doesn't work. I came in through the back door. Bertrand. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 2, 2007 Author Report Posted July 2, 2007 Funny because Randy was saying the same thing, but both links (at the top and in the menu bar) from the homepage work fine for me. Quote
Tom 1960 Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 Glad to see this place back up and running. Nothing against AAJ, but this is the best place on the planet to discuss jazz music. Thanks Jim for your efforts. Quote
mikeweil Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 Just now that I started getting used to live without this board ..... ..... just kiding. The looks are alright with me - I like something new every now and then, and never really warmed to that violet and peach look. If it's so much work to program different color schemes - I can live without these choices. It's more important that the post counts are saved ..... Quote
mikeweil Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 Only thing I'm missing is the "Today's active topics" link at the bottom of each page. Quote
(BB) Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 Without this place to lurk I ended up deconstructing an old TT and then started rebuilding it. Mostly I have taken everything completely apart cleaned, lubed and replaced a few simple parts. The tone-arm will be the first major piece to be replaced, as that one that came with it has the wrong head shell, therefore the nickel bolted to the top so that it will balance. I was pleased just to get in back together so that it works. I have listened to it through head phones but have not hooked it up to speakers yet. I have no idea what it will look like when I'm done, although I do like having the platter, tone-arm and motor as three separate units. (BB) TT 1.0 Quote
(BB) Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 another view. Jim, Thanks, for all your hard work keeping this place going. Bill Quote
Tony Pusey Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 I missed you all-and as intimated elsewhere I got far too much work done.last week. Quote
RDK Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 I've been gone all week - what'd I miss? Board looks great! Quote
AllenLowe Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 is this just some scheme to make us all donate? Quote
wesbed Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 I haven't posted for a while. A long while. Now... new forum software. Quote
