Jim S...thanks again for that heads up on the Miles '67 dvd.

Here's what's slated for the next Jazz Icons series. As of now, release date is September. There could be some changes in this...some of the licensing is still being worked on. Also, note the bonus disk at the end. You have to buy the box to get it.

...and below is some other info I received....the gillespie disc is a bonus if you buy the box...not available any other way.

m~

>Hello Jazz Icons fans,

>

>It's been a while since you've heard from me but as the old saying goes

>"all good things come to those who wait" so.......

>

>Here are the seven Jazz Icons DVDs (That's right SEVEN not six DVDs as I

>had earlier said)

>

>Before I list the contents I must say we're still in the process of

>clearing publishing so there's a chance of some changes but we're doing

>everything we can to make sure that doesn't happen. If we do get all of the

>clearances done in time, the series will hit the stores in the first week

>of September and this time the box set will come out the same day and will

>have a bonus disc containing material not seen on the other seven. This

>disc will only be sold in the box set and I promise you that it will never

>be sold separately so if you decide to buy the set you don't have to worry

>in a year from now that you wasted your money (as a consumer I hate when it

>happens to me) Also as with the first series we've gone back the original

>source material for the best sound and vision and of course all artists are

>getting paid directly or through the union.

>

>One last thing before I list the contents of all seven Jazz Icons DVDs, to

>those of you on this list that like sixties soul music we have two DVDs

>that are coming out in September (1) Otis Redding "Dreams To Remember"

>(Tentative title). This DVD will have 15 complete performances of the

>legendary R&B singer with new interviews filmed for the DVD from Stax

>founder Jim Stewart, Steve Cropper, Wayne Jackson (Memphis Horns) and the

>widow of Otis Redding, Zelma Redding. The interviews will be seen in

>between the songs making the viewer feel as though they are watching a

>documentary but with complete songs.

>

>The second DVD we're working on is a 75 minute concert filmed in Norway on

>the famed Stax/Volt Revue in 1967. The concert features performances by

>Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Eddie Floyd, Arthur Conley, Mar-Keys & Booker T &

>The Mg's who not only perform two of their hits but back every other artist

>on the stage. The DVD features 20 minutes of material from the concert that

>we recently discovered in the Norweigian vaults so even though some people

>have seen the concert before (thanks to the bootleggers out there) they

>haven't seen it all and not in this quality. In addition to the concert we

>have an insightful commentary track with Steve Cropper & Wayne Jackson.

>

>Okay now back to Jazz Icons, here's the list which might have some typos so

>please don't jump all over me it's not the final checked list. I'd love to

>hear your thoughts about the next series personally, I think this one might

>be stronger than the first.

>

>All the best and thanks in advance for diggin' the next Jazz Icons series

>and stay tuned for a formal announcement shortly.

>
