Teasing the Korean Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Suggest a pair of decent small speakers that won't put me in the poor house. I have auxiliary speaker outputs on my amp, and want to wire them into a room with limited space. Quote
porcy62 Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Wich amp? Often auxiliary outputs downgrade the overall performance of the amp. Unless your amp allow you to switch between them like soem MacIntosh, I presume. The loading of speakers sum together and can drastically push the amp to critical clipping. Theorically you should have a four channel amp to have the same performance at the same time. Anyway my suggestion would be a small speaker easy to drive, with a stable loading around 8 ohms. Quote

Yes, I can switch between A or B speakers. It's a big solid state Pioneer amp from (I'm guessing) the early 70s. The speakers don't need to go really loud, but just sound good at a low to medium level. It's kind of a chill out room for when I have friends over for cocktails... Quote

Teasing the Korean Posted June 13, 2007 Author Report Posted June 13, 2007 Thanks, but I'm talking SMALL, as in itsy bitsy. Bose Wave Radio size speakers. Quote
J Larsen Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Thanks, but I'm talking SMALL, as in itsy bitsy. Bose Wave Radio size speakers. So you're thinking more along the lines of 1 apple by 2 apples rather than 3 apples by 6 apples? Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted June 13, 2007 Author Report Posted June 13, 2007 OK, OK, you all got the gig opening for Shecky Green in the Poconos. Seriously, if that tiny Bose radio sounds as good as it does, someone must manufacture a pair of little speakers that sound good through a half decent amplifier. What's out there? Quote
CJ Shearn Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 well, my uncle always tells me about Paradigm bookshelf model speakers. I may want to get some myself. Quote
jazz1 Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Check the Tivoli speakers, they are pretty small but bigger than Boses. 50$ each and they sound much better than the Boses here is the link http://www.tivoliaudio.com/product.php?pro...=263&page=1 Quote
Claude Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Here's another one in apple size: http://www.popularmechanics.com/blogs/tech...ws/4217134.html Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted July 5, 2007 Author Report Posted July 5, 2007 Thanks for the suggestions - I'll check 'em out. Quote
