I have "East Broadway Run Down" on vinyl (now sleeping in the cellar, due to a lack of turntable) and always liked it, but it's been a long time... I'll have to pick it up on CD. I'll also have a listen to "Shadow Waltz" and "Green Dolphin Street" with your post in mind. You've given me plenty of food for thought - thanks! I agree. Jim's posts are always engaging, and chock filled with info--not just opinions. Quote
ralphie_boy Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 I picked this one up based on Jim's (and others') comments above. I'm diggin' it! Any other Rollins recommendations that fit into a similar mold as EBR? I suspect his other works on Impulse may be similar. Quote

GA Russell Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 I vote against it. I find the lengthy title track to be boring. Quote
sal Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 Ralphie Boy, Some may disagree with me, but to my ears some of the stuff he did for RCA/Victor after "The Bridge" sounds a bit like EBR, especially the stuff with Don Cherry and Billy Higgins. Quote
