CJ Shearn Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/pro...9225&itm=53 I am definitely all over this date when released. The clips sound great, and some unusual stop choices for Jimmy, wonder if thats one reason it was a rejected session? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Kenny Burrell on guitar? Sounds like him. Had no idea this was coming out. Thanks for the heads-up. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Really? That first track sounds like Kenny to me. Interesting. Quote
Bill B Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/pro...9225&itm=53 I am definitely all over this date when released. The clips sound great, and some unusual stop choices for Jimmy, wonder if thats one reason it was a rejected session? Blue Note Disco lists this as an unissued session. My question is what makes thi s so pricey $14.04 on CD Universe ??? Quote
Soul Stream Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Sounds Great!!!! Can't wait. Love how he's doing a lot of that Erroll Garner-style as he did on Plays Fats Waller. I doubt this was put out at the time just because his recorded output was so high and this session doesn't have the commercial focus of a Plays Fats or a Midnight Special. Just more genius playing from the genius. Quote
Aftab Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 the other June Conns are up as well. cool! Quote
CJ Shearn Posted May 29, 2007 Author Report Posted May 29, 2007 (edited) Soulstream, what's that weird stop setting on "Minor Fare"? is it like the 5th or 6th drawbar pulled out some? I was messing around with a local player's XK-8 who knows I love organ on a break at their gig a few weeks, hes an organ fan as well so I figured out some classic stops (he had asked me to email him with drawbar registrations), but none of the weird ones like on "Houseparty", "Trio+LD" and so on. BTW, What's with the 85 suffix in all these catalog numbers for the new Conns? the 85 numbers were used for the post Town Hall concert albums when the label was reactivated. Yet, the new Kenny Burrell and Ron Carter albums due this June have 79 series numbers. Edited May 29, 2007 by CJ Shearn Quote
