Jim Alfredson Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 You're kidding right? Please God tell me you're kidding. Jesus, in the name of all that's Holy please tell me you're joking... Quote
Dmitry Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 (edited) A buddy of mine had a gig with Florida Phil. a couple of years ago. He played behind this guy once and said it was extremely cheesy[i believe him!]. He got paid. Edited September 3, 2003 by Dmitry Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I hate to break it to you, B3-er, but I saw the same spot Free For All did. In fact, I was going to post about it with a thread title of something like, "First Rod Stewart, now ... Michael Bolton??!!" Truly frightening. Be thankful you haven't seen the spot. I believe "Summertime" is on the record. That ought to be worth a trip to see Dr. Kevorkian. Quote

That's all right, you don't really need those Conns coming out in October. In the meantime, Michael Bolton singing standards?? Quote

BruceH Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 What is he singing on this album besides "Summertime"? "Anything Goes"? "All the Things You Are"? I wouldn't pay to hear his renditions of such songs, but I'd be kind of curious...you know, in much the same way that you might be curious to see a real, live train wreck. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 I believe "Summertime" is on the record. That ought to be worth a trip to see Dr. Kevorkian. I'm not sure you would need a trip to Dr. Death after hearing that... Quote
Free For All Posted September 4, 2003 Author Report Posted September 4, 2003 Speaking of Dr. Death, has anyone ever heard the recording he put out? Doesn't he play flute? I saw it once at Tower but couldn't quite rationalize my curiousity- just like that "Clinton plays sax" CD that was out for a minute. Someone transcribed one of Bill's sax solos and sent it around- quite hilarious. Good party stuff- like that Shatner "Transformed Man". Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 (edited) I thought the only solo he knows is "Night Train" ... and yes, I've seen Dr. Kevorkian's CD, used in fact, so it wouldn't have cost as much to hear him. Still couldn't, ahem, pull the trigger. Edited September 4, 2003 by Dan Gould Quote

.:.impossible Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 Undoubtedly it will be as scintillating as his foray into opera... NO! Please tell me he didn't cut his hair! PLEASE!!! I'm not sure I can handle this situation. Back when he was cool... I now renounce the http://www.saintaardvarkthecarpeted.com/im...hael_bolton.jpg Quote
Guest Chaney Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 I think we might be further along on our path toward the Apocalypse than you think. Yes, bro Stallone and the Billy May Orchestra, recorded in 1992 but (apparently) not released until JUST LAST YEAR! Surely the trigger to endtimes? Oh, and the tunes? 1. I Can't Believe 2. Close Your Eyes 3. I Got A Right To Sing the Blues 4. Saturday Night 5. Exactly Like You 6. By The River St. Marie 7. Gee Baby Ain't I Good To You 8. I didn't Know What Time It Was 9. Baby Won't You Please Come Home 10. Long Ago And Far Away Looks like Frank (Stallone, not Sinatra) was waaaay ahead of the current field of crooner wannabes. Sleep well. Aww crap. There's also this June 29, 2003 release: SOUND SAMPLES Been nice knowin' ya. Quote

Jim Alfredson Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 i'm waiting for the Michael Bolton/Kenny G., duets album. Michael Bolton sings, and Kenny G plays the music of Gershwin as performed by Enja on piano. <shudder> I just gave myself heart attack with that one. Quote

JSngry Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 That Frank Stallone stuff actually got some airplay on our local "E-Z Listening" station here (before it changed formats), and I must say that it left me , in a way that very little music does, with an overwhelmingly oppressive sense of "Why?". Jim Alfredson Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 You could substitue Enja with Tesh. Or that Jim Brickman dude. What an astounding pianist he is. I forgot to add the clincher: Orchestrations by Yanni. With special quest conductor Vangelis. Quote
