Teasing the Korean
Why spend money on the reissue when there are multiple copies at the thrift store for 50 cents? Edited May 21, 2007 by Teasing the Korean

bertrand
I had no idea Larry Young played on this. 1977? It must have been one of his last dates. You learn something every day. Bertrand.
Teasing the Korean
The new reissue has bonus tracks WOW!!! If I can get the original for 50 cents at the thrift store, the digital remaster with bonus tracks is worth at least 75 cents. Please post a link to any reputable retailer offering this jewel for 75 cents, and I'll be sure to buy it.

sidewinder
Well, I guess they were both recording for Arista at the time..
Shawn
APP was a studio band, so it doesn't surprise me they would use some jazz cats now and again. I can't listen to much of this stuff anymore, but I'll always have a soft spot for the Turn Of A Friendly Card album.
sidewinder
Those APP albums were almost like an ongoing aural backdrop to my University years so they will always be worth hearing for me. Picked up many of the vinyls for £2-£3 and they still sound good. 'Turn of A Friendly Card', 'I Robot' and 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination' are probably my faves - along with 'Pyramid' (apart from the daft vocals). Some very good vocalists on those albums too - Colin Blunstone, Steve Harley come to mind.

I'm sure you can find many jazz albums in the 50 cent bin as well (I often do) - I guess we can all stop buying CD reissues now.

Teasing the Korean
Could we call it datdain? Sure, den, call it dat. Seriously, I was simply addressing the irony of reissuing music that is readily available in the dollar bin at every thrift store and used record store...
