Guest donald petersen Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 but monk was "eccentric". i will give him a pass. and wasn't howard mcghee hopped uo on smack? dolphy was also "eccentric". anyway-i think the main issue with box sets, in addition to blurring together an artists discography into a continuous lump, is that you lose the cover art to a large degree. this is a big deal! I do find that with material I bought really early on in my "search" and know very well, that box sets sometimes make for a disconcerting listening. . . and on the flip of that sometimes ear-opening listening. . . because my familiarity of the programming is challenged.
