Reminds me of "Grand encounter" and not only the music is great but the mono-recording on the Japanese reissue is superb, makes you wonder why we need stereo!

Very tasty set, although I can't boast a Japanese issue. As I recall the Euro cd is sounds okay to me.

We do not need stereo, but a decent monocartridge.

I remember buying this when it was first issued on LP. Have always liked it. Now have the Japanese CD

re-issue.

Very good session which was obviously inspired by the 'Grand Encounter' Pacific Jazz meeting of John Lewis with Bill Perkins and Jim Hall.

I have the original album on Versailles and a black label copy of the Atlantic release. The Versailles has several scratches (thanks to friends I loaned the disc to at the time ) . The Atlantic is still in great condition.

Versailles was the label that was started by French bandleader Ray Ventura. Ventura hired his nephew, guitarist Sacha Distel, to run the jazz department.

One of my favourite Wilen albums, I think! Very very good one! Also a great companion to the "hors série" Distel JiP release!

Another for this beautiful album. I wish Rhino or Mosaic would have done John Lewis justice and given him the box set treatment.
