Dan Gould Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Maybe I should post this as a PM to Dmitry but ... here goes. In the last few days (not even sure when it happened) one of my front teeth must have gotten bumped because its now slightly loose (as in, no biting an apple for me). My question is, if the pain is not at all significant, is a trip to the dentist necessary? When the roots loosen up a little, will they re-solidify around the tooth and stabilize it or this tooth destined to get yanked? Its not that I don't like the dentist. The thing is, even though I've lived in south Florida quite a while, my regular visits to see the folks have allowed me to continue to get regular (or at least semi-regular) dental care from the Dentist I've been seeing since college. So, strange as it may seem, I've yet to find a local dentist and haven't had need to. Right now the tooth doesn't hurt at all, I am just being careful with how I bite and chew - my question is, will this heal itself or do I need a dentist to ultimately remove and replace the tooth? zen archer Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 You should go to the dentist it won't heal by itself. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 (edited) See, the idea is to point the bottle away from your face when you pop the cork. Edited April 17, 2007 by Son-of-a-Weizen Quote
J Larsen Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I don't know - people with braces have teeth that are loose as hell and they heal - also if I go a long time without getting my teeth scaled they wiggle around a lot for a few days afterwards... But I'd still go to the dentist. Quote
jlhoots Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 That's called the "chew test". I'd go to the dentist. Quote
sheldonm Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I would go, better safe than sorry. I had two front teeth dislodged in a baseball game several years ago...literally almost out of the socket with a big split through my lip and a crack in the roof of my mouth. Although my appears to be more extreme that yours, they wired my teeth and all is well. I went white water rafting the following day which was not the best thing to do. I never thought I would be able to chew/bite with my front teeth but all is good. m~ Quote
sidewinder Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I had a tooth removal and implant surgery several months ago and it proved to be a very good move. My advice would also be to go. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 This is NOT to be taken as knowledgable advice at ALL, but if it was me, I'd probably wait a week or so and see if there was any change before going. Quote
Brad Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I wouldn't mess around. These things get worse, not better. Quote
GA Russell Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I've just come back from the dentist, by coincidence. A filling fell out and needed to be glued back in. No pain, except the $124. Yikes! Quote
paul secor Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I'd go to the dentist as soon as possible. Don't take chances with your teeth. You won't get a second chance once they're gone. Quote
Shawn Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 It may not hurt today...but you definitely want to go to the dentist before it starts hurting... Quote
