Aggie87 Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 spurs are not a freakin' dynasty you gotta go Back 2 Back for dynasty status spurs = most stable NBA franchise the past ten years Be careful, maybe they'll take it again next year! Assuming they win this year, that will make 3 of the last 5, and 4 of the last 9. I don't know if that's dynasty material or not, but it's pretty impressive. Quote
Guy Berger Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 (edited) spurs are not a freakin' dynasty you gotta go Back 2 Back for dynasty status I don't completely agree with the "not dynasty" argument above. That said... Out of the three championships they've won this century, they've been fortunate to face two of the weakest teams to make the finals in the past decade ('07 Cavs and '03 Nets). The one time they faced a very good team, the '05 Pistons, they needed 7 games. (And let's not kid ourselves -- the Pistons weren't as good as most of the teams the Bulls beat for their rings.)* spurs = most stable NBA franchise the past ten years I think it's more than that. Since Duncan's arrival ten years ago, the Spurs have won over 70% of their regular season games. No other current team in the league comes close to that. Guy *To be fair, in the western conference playoffs they've had to beat better teams than the Nets, Cavs and Pistons. Edited June 13, 2007 by Guy Quote
Guy Berger Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 I think Bowen is worthy of MVP consideration for how he's played LBJ this series, despite the rest of American hating him. Not sure if that merits an MVP, but he has been doing a great job. LeBron's shooting at around 35% this series. That's abysmal. Guy Quote

Guy I am going back and forth on the thought about Bowen & MVP, but shutting down LBJ has been the key to the series. Nobody else on their team is that dangerous. His defense has contributed significantly to their winning this series, maybe as much as Parker (the probable MVP) has done on offense. Bowen's definitely had alot of team help though against LeBron, no doubt. MVPs are usually offensive stars though, like the Heisman is usually given to a QB or RB 99% of the time. So it's probably doubtful Bowen will get it. Quote
Noj Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 I think one more great game from Tony Parker would make the MVP honors his. Quote
md655321 Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 LBJ could score 50 a night on 70% shooting on the Spurs would still have a great chance of winning the series. As important as his defense is, it is absolutely nothing compared to the roles of Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. And 4 out of 9 championships, with a good chance for more, is a dynasty. Quote

Duncan has at least 4, maybe 5 or 6, great years in him. Assuming that they keep Parker and Ginobili, they'll contend at least through 2011. Guy Quote
Noj Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Oberto was a great pick up for the Spurs, he fits perfectly with their style of play and can really disrupt any defensive adjustments other teams try to make. Quote
md655321 Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 All three are locked up until atleast 09/10 season. Scary stuff. Quote

I agree, he's been much more effective in that position that Nesterovic was previously. Elson's decent there too. Little Known Oberto Facts Quote
BruceW Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Apologize for not being around much this season guys. Have been locked in battle with our contractor through the State License Board. (Contractor left a whole lot to be desired in quality and dedication yet, we still have a nice rebuilt home.) They were just jerks about the whole process. Next year should be no problem, but I got to admit, at this point I do not think the Pistons will be a factor next season. Need many changes. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted June 14, 2007 Author Report Posted June 14, 2007 for the 80's lakers to become a dynasty # 1 beat the celtics # 2 win it back2 back plus 5 championships didn't hurt Quote
