Guy Berger Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 this game is shit It's that way at least partly because of the disparity between the West and the East. One of the announcers said the top 4 teams in the West could all beat the Cavaliers, and that is probably correct. yup spurs mavs suns jazz? Houston too. Though a Cavs victory is extremely unlikely at this point, this series isn't quite over. Guy Quote
Aggie87 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Though a Cavs victory is extremely unlikely at this point, this series isn't quite over. Guy They have 3 in a row at home now. I think the Cavs have one relatively large blowout win in them. Maybe one squeaker; I see the series still going 5 or 6. Quote

Oh now you've done it. I'm going to burst out laughing if I see them use that shot again. Though that'd take a Game 6...(crosses fingers.) Quote
Aggie87 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 I think Parker's legs are still out-running everyone around the court somewhere: Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 carlito + manu = flop fest From Bill Simmons' Game 1 blog: (Hey, while I was typing, we just had Anderson Varejao's first flop of the night! That was fun. I can't wait until he and Manu Ginobili collide during this series -- it's going to be like when they crossed the streams in "Ghostbusters.") Quote

Though a Cavs victory is extremely unlikely at this point, this series isn't quite over. Guy I guess this depends on the interpretation of "could all beat". Yes Jazz and Rockets could beat Cleveland (or Detroit or Chicago). Cleveland could beat them too. ...Probably would be a more interesting series than what we have. West is dominant because there are 3 great teams out there. Let's not be having this greatness spillover onto teams like the Jazz and Rockets. Those two are solid teams that can finish in the top four in the east or in the west. Quote
Noj Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 It's amazing how quickly the East diminished. Wade's shoulder injury and Shaq's body breaking down, the Pistons quickly turning into a pumpkin under Flop Saunder's watch, and suddenly a rag tag team like the Cavs can make it to the Finals behind the boy wonder LeBron. Man, I hope the Cavs can turn it around in their three home games. Tony Parker is playing like a man possessed. I don't think the Cavs can do it. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 I'll say it again: Spurs in 5, although I will actually be surprised if the Cavs win one. I can't see how Saunders should still have a job. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted June 11, 2007 Author Report Posted June 11, 2007 Shaq's Next Big Challenge should be playing 70+ games in a season.... Quote
Aggie87 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Tony Parker is playing like a man possessed. He sure is; at this point he may be the Finals MVP. Or maybe Bowen could get consideration, if he continues to shut down LBJ. Quote

Cleveland and Chicago had a much softer regular season schedules than Utah and Jazz, hence the disparity between them is larger than their records would indicate. That said, I don't think any series between them would have been a "guarantee". Guy Quote
Soulstation1 Posted June 12, 2007 Author Report Posted June 12, 2007 went to the mall yesterday saw some turtlehead jerseys accidentally knocked all of them on the floor and walked over them Quote

Soulstation1 Posted June 13, 2007 Author Report Posted June 13, 2007 i was worried the spurs might put the cavs out of their misery tonight Quote
Aggie87 Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 (edited) Not sure how the Spurs won that game tonight. Ginobili didn't do much of anything, and both Parker and Duncan didn't play as well as they had in the previous two games. Credit the Cleveland defense for stepping it up, for sure! LeBron was fouled on the last play, but (for me) it was hard to tell whether it was in the act of shooting or before. Bowen's intent was obviously to foul him before shooting, which would mean only 2 free throws, and game over pretty much. Too bad it was a no-call. edit - if they had called it in the act of shooting, and awarded LBJ three free throws, would have been VERRRRY interesting to see if he would have made all of them, with his percentage. Patrick Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 agree with you Aggie. Big 3 did not win the game for the Spurs. It was their 3-pt shooting from the bench. Parker looked mortal. Duncan was a star but not a superstar. Search party finally located Manu late in the fourth. Gibson and Snow, while not scoring a ton, definitely contributed much more than the injured Hughes. If only Gibson could have hit one or two of those wide open 3's. Coach Brown made that adjustment a game or two too late. And Gooden and Ilgauskus each played as well, or better than, Duncan. Spurs will win the series, with an excellent chance of a sweep. The east will collosally suck for awhile longer, but at least the Cavs were their match in this game. Too bad only some fans in Cleveland will remember... Quote
Guy Berger Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 I think after that game, the NBA is a little closer to death. Guy Quote

Noj Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 It sounds to me like the Spurs can play awful and still beat the Cavs. I missed the game, but if you can't beat the Spurs while holding Duncan to 14 points, you really can't beat the Spurs. Quote

Both teams played superb defense (that's the optimistic description of the game, anyway). The Spurs' outside shooting was solid, and bailed out their stars sub-par performances, at least enough to get the W. Also, Ilgauskas had about 17 offensive rebounds on one play early in the game, I think. He and Gooden both stepped up their games. I think Bowen is worthy of MVP consideration for how he's played LBJ this series, despite the rest of American hating him. Quote
