Chauncey turning it over, LeBron facilitatin'. Is Rip the one man gang and Cavs "the team" at this point? We shall see. Coach Brown rarely makes adjustments at half, so I expect the Cavs lead is very much in peril, and quickly (say first 4 mins of third quarter) will disappear.

Oh, I'm sure there's nothin' wrong with the game. Just lookin' for an opportunity to diss Gooden's "hair".^_^ Plus, I'm still trying to recover from the Warriors bowing out. ;) I'll probably pay closer attention when the 4th Q rolls around.

Cavs had their chances. Not able to hit at the line or overcome lousy officiating :) [LeBron zero trips to line despite many drives to the rim.] Chauncey did just enough in the fourth quarter. LeBron did not.

Cavs HAVE to win those games if they want any chance at all.

Chauncey had about 76 turnovers, but there is no one in the game id rather have with the ball in the 4th quarter.

Blazers win draft lottery

By BRIAN MAHONEY, AP Basketball Writer

May 22, 2007

SECAUCUS, N.J. (AP) -- The Portland Trail Blazers beat the odds and won the right to settle the Greg Oden-Kevin Durant debate.

With just a 5.3 percent chance of winning the No. 1 pick, the Blazers won the NBA's draft lottery Tuesday night, earning the right to draft a potential franchise player from what's considered to be a deep class.

Represented by Rookie of the Year Brandon Roy, the Blazers got a head start on landing next year's top rookie. They will almost certainly choose between Oden, the Ohio State center, or Durant, Texas' high-scoring forward.

Both players are likely headed to the Northwest, as Seattle also moved up into second. Atlanta got the third pick -- and needed it. Falling out of the top three would have meant sending the pick to Phoenix.

Memphis and Boston, which had the worst records in the league and the best chance of landing in the top two, slipped to fourth and fifth, respectively.

Karma biting the Celtics in the ass.

wow, that really sucks for boston. bill simmons of espn spent so much of the past few months creaming his pants over oden in his column, i thought it was a lock. it would have been nice to see the celtics return to prominence though. they do have the coolest basketball court of all time (at least they used to, with that cool criss crossed wooden floor in the garden) this unfortunately means several more years of intensified red sox hysteria, since the celtics wont be around to provide any distractions

I think that you may be overreacting a bit based on lottery order. That said, I did look at Hollinger's top 10 free agents (which arguably could have a larger effect than a highly touted early entry rookie) and noticed that 9 of the top 10 are on Eastern Conference teams (Billups, V Carter, G Wallace, Mo Williams, G Hill, Milicic, Varajao, Nocioni, Webber), so ignoring the possibility of great interconference trades for East teams, it looks like they won't be closing the gap much. Only Rashard Lewis comes from the West. Of course, beyond Billups and perhaps Vinsanity, this is not the most impressive list (and half of it is restricted free agents who likely won't be changing teams).

You got Portland or Seattle at .500 next year? I don't.

Seattle, probably not. Portland is a possibility -- there's a lot of young talent there.

Somebody is going to totally overpay for Vince Carter. It's inevitable.

I think Nocioni could be a nice pickup for some team.

Portland and Seattle are both playoff teams with the addition of Durant/Oden. They would have as good a chance as any 6-12ish team in the West. If Portland can turn Randolph into something, and is Seattle can turn Rashard into something, both have a great chance at vastly improving. Oden and Durant are both insane players. Outside of Dwayne and Lebron, they are easily the best to enter the league in the past 5 years.

Not sure what you mean by this statement. Both guys have been in the league for a while, they're known quantities.

Why does the NBA do this draft lottery thing? What's the point? Why isn't it like football, where the team with the worst record gets the first pick? Seems a bit more fair.

Spurs just put the Jazz away in Game 2. Now the series has a break for 4 days, and picks back up on Saturday in Salt Lake City for Game 3. I bet the home crowd will fire the Jazz up and they'll play alot better than they have these first two games. Spurs finally get a day or two of rest though, so they should be strong in Game 3 as well.

To reduce the incentive for tanking, I believe.
