Jim Alfredson Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 I only watched a few minutes of the game before halftime due to being knee-deep in a home project, but I could tell just in that brief view that the Pistons would lose the game. No energy, no ball movement, sloppy play, one on one basketball. They just were not in it today. Hopefully they'll close it out on Tuesday back in Detroit. Quote

Jim R Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 Stephen Jackson turns the ball over a lot when he drives into the key. ... 6 TO's tonight, all by himself, plus a bunch of missed shots followed by the usual crying to the refs. It was Baron (ouch, worst game I've seen him play in a long time), and JRich that lost it for us, though. Utah played great- Boozer is a beast. I'm sure Nellie's going to harp on "It's not over yet... we're going to show up and play", but they better be ready to play better (how about making a few FT's for starters ). I wish Derek Fisher would turn the goddamn ball over against us, the way he did when he played FOR us. Quote

Patrick Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Exciting, tight, defensive (or offensive, depending on your preferences) playoff game in NJ. Cavs focusing on the three-headed monster turns Mikki Moore into Dirk Nowitzki (so to speak). LeBron decent from the field (9/16) but not the line (10/15). Fortunately, crybaby Vince had his problems (6/23 from field, 10/14 from line), and Jason only rebounded (2/13 from field, 5 pts, 7 assists, 17 rebounds!). NJ did not score a field goal during last 7 minutes of game. Cavs squeek by. Now back to the main attraction with the Big Fundamental. Quote

Aggie87 Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Cheap foul on Nash by Big Shot Bob last night. Not sure what will come of all that. Stoudemire is worried he'll be suspended for coming off the bench to aid Nash, but his argument is that he was just getting up to get back in the game. Will be interesting to see what the league decides, and since Game 5 is tomorrow night, it should be a quick decision. The Spurs shooting when cold at the end, and with Duncan having 5 fouls, they weren't as aggressive defensively either. The Suns played well at the end, and are turning this into a rivalry. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 15, 2007 Author Report Posted May 15, 2007 amare needs to use his fouls on the inside / paint area BIG BIG win by the suns Quote
Aggie87 Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 BIG BIG win by the suns I agree. Going down 3-1 to the Spurs would have almost completely sealed the series. Now it's 2-2, and the Suns have the homecourt advantage again. I can see this going 7 games. If the Jazz win tonight, they'll have quite a nice little break before the next round. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Pistons better take care of business tonight. Quote
donald byrd 4 EVA Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 a spurs-jazz final would be an appropriate end to a season in an increasingly boring and irrelevant league. Aside from the what the warriors did, i think most of these games are unwatchable. I think David Stern needs to go and there needs to be a major change in the fundamental structure of the NBA. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 There are just too many teams and not enough talent to go around. Oh, and the rule changes that make players like Dwayne Wade untouchable and pretty lame, too. Other than that... the Pistons still rool! Quote
donald byrd 4 EVA Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 the pistons are pretty cool. I like chauncey Quote
Guy Berger Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 There are just too many teams and not enough talent to go around. Not obvious to me why this should be more of a problem than it was 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago. Guy Quote
Patrick Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 I find this playoff season more interesting than most. Not yet another run by Kobe/Shaq (or Jordan/Pippen, or ...). Detroit and San Antonio are solid but it's not (yet) inevitable that they will meet in the final. Dallas, Phoenix solid teams that have had some challenges, and maybe it turns out, too much love. GS surprising everyone (including themselves). LeBron trying to get to the next stage (...and lose to the same opponent). Epoch dramas for all ages--perhaps not, but entertaining basketball nonetheless. Increasingly irrelevant? Compared to what - NCAA tournament, McDonalds high school game, WNBA? NBA China? With more foreign players participating, and the increased level of play globally, isn't there really more talent available now (...a fair amount of it requiring more on-the-job training than in the past)? Soulstation1 Posted May 15, 2007 Author Report Posted May 15, 2007 horry should be fined and nobody suspended for the next game there could be some MAJOR pushing / shoving / trash talking in this series Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 League suspends Amare, Diaw, and Horry. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2007...tory?id=2871615 The Amare & Diaw suspensions are bullshit, especially considering, as Steve Kerr pointed out: "In a play that went entirely unnoticed until well after the game was over, both Duncan and Bowen actually left San Antonio's bench early in the second quarter after Francisco Elson and James Jones were entangled. Replays clearly show Duncan walking several steps onto the court as Elson and Jones appeared to be ready to get into it. Bowen then followed Duncan onto the floor, grabbed him and led him back to the bench. If the league does indeed follow the letter of the law, both Spurs players would also be suspended for Game 5." Add that to Bowen's "physical" play that the league hasn't even bothered to review... and if I was a Suns fan, I'd be pissed. Quote

Jim R Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I wonder if anybody (outside the league office) still thinks this rule is fair as written. The whole Bowen thing is a joke. The number of people (including players and coaches) who are still saying "Oh, he just plays hard- get used to it" is astonishing. Go Warriors. Quote
