Noj Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Bowen once jumped under Kobe's feet on a jumper in a playoff game, causing him to turn an ankle. It appeared deliberate to me. He's not above this sort of thing, imo. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Posted May 11, 2007 ain't no way the bulls are gonna win 4 straight games vs the pistons ain't no way any team will beat the spurs or pistons 4 straight games Mr Big Shot and Rip = best guard duo in the NBA??? Quote

I didn't realize that kickboxing had merged with basketball. There are a bunch of videos showing dirty plays by Bowen, but that one stands WAY out above the others. Anybody know how long ago this one occurred? I wonder what punishment was doled out on that. Some of the other videos show an aftermath (scuffles, refs conferring, etc), but I'm surprised this one didn't. I had heard about Bowen's reputation for stepping in beneath people to cause ankle injuries, but I didn't realize how many times he's done shit like this. Quote
md655321 Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I think the Bowen think is like the Imus thing. Maybe not the worst thing ever, but thanks to a LOOOOOOOONG and brutal track record, it is inexcusable. Bruce Bowen should be out of the league. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Posted May 11, 2007 and timmie is the king of the moving screen spurs = Quote

I'd say he deserves that at the very least. Looking collectively at the multiple examples of his bullshit at YouTube is a definite eye-opener. Quote

Guy Berger Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 (edited) I was telling noj and SS1 yesterday -- one of my buddies (a big Pistons fan) HATES the Spurs, but says the only player that he likes on that team is Bowen precisely because he is a dirty player. I spoke to him today and he said that if Bowen keeps this up he might have to start rooting for the Spurs. Guy ps That jump kick was awesome. Edited May 11, 2007 by Guy Quote
Noj Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I hate seeing any player get hurt. I hate it even worse if I accidentally hurt someone else when I'm playing, and would never do it intentionally. So, purposely stepping under someone's foot to make them roll an ankle is about as chump as it gets, in my book. Quote

Guy Berger Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Baron's dunk over AK47 was just nasty. A nice comeback by the Ws. Hopefully they can bring the same focus to game 4. Guy Quote
Jim R Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 The #8 seed schmoes did their thing tonight. Feels good, but it's still just one win. If they blow them out again in game 4, then maybe I'll give them a chance of taking 2 of the last 3... but it will probably be less than a 50% chance. Damn, we should be up 2-1 and in the driver's seat. I heard during tonight's telecast that the league has dismissed any idea of punishing Bowen. If true, I'd say they're either blind or gutless. Anyway, I haven't found any official news story quoting the league office on the matter. I did find this, which is such bullshit. What a boneheaded spin they put on the whole thing... Bowen's just "playing hard", and he's not going to "back down"... as if consistently kicking people in a cheapshot manner has anything to do with "playing hard". How often do you see guys getting kicked in the achilles by a player who is totally beaten for a dunk? One look at that kung fu move on Wally Szczerbiak says it all. Any 12 year-old who goes to YouTube can see that Bowen is a dirty player. Quote

Aggie87 Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Soulstation1 said: nice knee by bowen to nash's nads Yeah. If that was intentional, that's pretty crappy. On the other hand, if he was only trying to clear space (a move everyone in the NBA does when the defender is belly-to-belly with ya), and it was inadvertent, then it's just physical playing on both sides. Guy Berger Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 I was bitching about this elsewhere -- whoever is doing the camera angles over at ABC needs to be fired ASAP. Some of parts of today's game were unwatchable. Guy Quote
Aggie87 Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 I agree - they were giving us views like we were in the cheap seats alot of times, from the other side of the court. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 13, 2007 Author Report Posted May 13, 2007 needless to say the bulls need a win today Quote
md655321 Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Now the Bulls need just 3 more. Glad the pistons could atleast make a game out if it briefly in the fourth. Someone should tell Sheed that you are allowed to take shots within the 3 pt line. Quote
