BERIGAN Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 Several months back, I posted on one of the jazz boards(Harlem perhaps?) about how it seemed strange that a major figure in Woody Herman's band like Chubby was still alive, and yet we never read much about him, and someone was nice enough from the website this link comes from to email me this link...since they said it was aok to post it, thought I would....I didn't know he was the one you hear yelling in so many live performances! Haven't seen their website before, but looks interesting! http://members.aol.com/plabjazz/jackson.html Quote
Christiern Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 Nice interview, and good of you to bring up Chubby Jackson. Quote
brownie Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Thanks Berigan for bringing this interview here. I love the music from the Herman Herd but the band must really have been something else. All the interviews I have read (I remember the Terry Gibbs interview in Cadence several years ago) indicate this was a gathering of extraordinaly interesting people. The 1949 Chubby Jackson big band was also something else! Quote
