Late Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Open to joking too. Have a favorite nut? I'm addicted to cashews. That's why I can't buy them or have them around. Quote
sidewinder Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Planters dry roast for me. Just about to crack open a pack ! Quote
Free For All Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I love 'em all (cashews are my favorite), but lately I've been eating more walnuts and almonds (good for alkaline/acid balance) which I buy raw and roast in the oven- they are soooooo tasty that way. I just made some banana bread w/the walnuts and it was excellent. Quote
BruceH Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Cashews are my favorite too, but lately I've gotten into pecans. Quote
J Larsen Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Pistachios are where it's at (especially the pink ones from Greece). Almonds and cashews are pretty good. Walnuts and pecans are pretty gross. Sort of indifferent to all the others. Quote
Noj Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Pistachios, almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans, peanuts...I'll chow them all, even those big old ones in the mixed nut cans that look like somebody's chopped-off toe. Quote
sidewinder Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 even those big old ones in the mixed nut cans that look like somebody's chopped-off toe. You sure they're not? Should be OK with a bit of salt. Quote
B. Clugston Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I like walnuts. I use them in pesto and salads. Lately, I’ve been getting into pecans. For munching and nut butters, I prefer almonds. Quote
sal Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Pistachios, almonds and brazilians for me. Quote
(BB) Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Peanut Butter and Honey toast for breakfast 90% of the time Peanut Butter and Jelly for lunch 80% of the time Salted roasted peanuts in the shell favorite snack I'm also more than happy with some toasted almonds and/or cashews as well. Last summer I made a peanut butter ice cream that was I tried to make a burnt almond sorbet that is suppose to be fantastic, although my first try at it was very very horrible in a not good kind of way. Maybe this summer I'll try it again. As far as this board is concerned my favorite nut? It's a toss up between Chewy and Clem , Quote
Jim R Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Macadamia nuts are my favorite, hands down. Also love almonds, pistachios, and peanuts. I like cashews, but I start to feel queasy if I eat more than a few at a time. Not sure what's going on there. I've never been a fan of hazel nuts (filberts) or brazil nuts. I like walnuts in banana bread and such, but haven't been inclined to eat them plain since I was a kid (we had a couple of walnut trees in our back yard). Quote
J Larsen Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I like cashews, but I start to feel queasy if I eat more than a few at a time. Not sure what's going on there. Interesting - I have the same problem with pine nuts. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I like all nuts I think. I love natural peanut butters. Give me a choice and I'll eat macadamia and brazil nuts. Just love both! Quote
Hot Ptah Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I have been eating three raw almonds a day since reading that Edgar Cayce said that if you do this, you will never get cancer. He could have been wrong, or crazed in some way.....but what if he is right about this? It is an easy enough thing to do. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Pistachios. I love pistachios. And cashews and peanuts and hazel nuts and everything else, but pistachios are my favorite! YUM! Quote
WD45 Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 My folks have black walnut trees on the farm. Last fall, we harvested 10 gallons of the suckers. I have been cracking them in the garage this winter. Love them raw, or candied on a salad. Nice-n-earthy. Big almond fan as well! Quote
clifford_thornton Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Pistachios are where it's at (especially the pink ones from Greece). Quote
Stereojack Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I love 'em all except walnuts. My favorites are almonds, especially the smokehouse flavored kind. Quote
catesta Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 I just finished a handful of raw almonds. My favorites are cashews, pistachios, dry roasted lightly salted peanuts, macadamia, filberts, and of course the almond. I enjoy pecans as well and to some extent the walnut. What did I leave out? Quote
LAL Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 Love the milky taste of pine and cashew nuts. Macadamias, brazil nuts, almonds are fine by me. Love walnuts too but those sold in stores are very frequently mouldy. Eat them all raw and straight from the freezer. I'd add coconuts to the list but that's not a nut. Quote
Joe G Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 Stored on my kitchen counter as I type: raw pistachios, cashews, and pine nuts; roasted/no salt almonds and sunflower seeds (close enough). It's good for ya! Quote
