Dave Garrett Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Couldn't find a card depicting his tenure with the Astros, but he was dubbed "Penis" Cabell by many Houston fans as a result of the frequency with which he would adjust his jockstrap during games. Quote

GA Russell Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Thanks, Dave and aloc. I had thought it was the way aloc described it, and maybe that was the way it was commonly pronounced. But it's good to see that reference to his correcting people to pronounce it la-Zwah. Quote

Dave James Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Speaking of Harry "Suitcase" Simpson, I came across another big leaguer who moved around a fair amount, "Available" Jones. Anyone familiar with Memo Luna? I was so enamored of his name, I bought his baseball card. The Boyer family was burdened with bad names. Clete's brother was named Cloyd. My all time favorite, bar none, though, is Van Lingle Mungo. Trivially speaking, are folks aware that John Berradino, the movie and television actor (small part in Hitchcock's North by Northwest and a long running role in the daytime soap General Hospital as Dr. Steve Hardy) played in the majors for the Browns and the Pirates in the early '50's? Up over and out. Quote
Van Basten II Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Greatest name in Montreal Expos history must be John Bocabella, the late P.A. Claude Mouton had fun with that name. Quote
