Werf
Anybody know what that stripper music that is associated with the (cinematic) portrayal of strippers in the 50s and 60s is, and where it originated from? It seems to have jazz influences. And, for you older guys, was this actually played in real strip clubs? (In my days of going to strip clubs it was all Aerosmith and Z.Z. Top). .:.impossible
I don't know the answer to your question, but my Grandfather loves to play Ray Anthony's Dirty Trumpets after a few rounds. Sounds to me like the stereotypical stripper music you are referring to. Its a trip to see him get up and dance! Yes, he keeps his clothes on. ejp626
There is one piece actually called "The Stripper," which sounds just like you would expect. We played this in jazz band, and the score should be available. Whether it has ever been played "for real" in a strip act, or only for ironic intent is not clear to me. J.A.W.
Bandleader David Rose had a No.1 hit with "The Stripper" in June-July 1962. He also composed it. Edited March 15, 2007 by J.A.W.
JSngry
That Rose thing was from a movie of the same name.
7/4
That Rose thing was from a movie of the same name. The Rose? Wasn't Bette Middler in that? I'm not really sure I'd want to see her with her clothes off. Edited March 15, 2007 by 7/

Scott Dolan
Yeah, but she'd be naked. That's got to count for something. I mean hell, Kathy Bates got naked in that one movie, right? Afer that, seeing Bette naked would be a breeze.

ghost of miles
Wasn't Jimmy Forrest's "Night Train" popular with strippers in the 1950s?

Scott Dolan
That's mildly disturbing. But, it could have been worse my friend. It could hve been her, Kathy Bates, AND Bette Midler all naked in the same issue.

Dig'Em
> That Stereotypical Stripper Music, Where Did It Come From? Well, for about eight months, it came from the bell of my horn. And yes, this was the highlight of my musical career, which explains why I no longer play professionally.
DukeCity
Do you have a copy of the Playboy with Roseanne in it? No. Is she naked in it? I hear she was. Quick Google search seems to indicate that there was some talk/rumors about Roseanne making a seven-figure deal for a nude pictorial, but it doesn't look like it ever came to fruition. She was interviewed (along with Tom Arnold) for the June '93 issue, which featured Playmate of the Year...wait for it... Anna-Nicole Smith.
