flat5 Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 (edited) As a young clarinet/jazz student I had at least 14 Pete Fountain Coral records. Some of them were quite good. "Pete Fountain Day" is my favorate. These were my only records with Jack Sperling on drums. One of 'em featured him on every tune with arrangements by Charles "Bud" Dant. Anyone want to suggest other records that Jack had a real chance to play on? Got any stories about him? Edited March 6, 2007 by flat5 Quote
Fabio Baglioni Posted September 12, 2018 Report Posted September 12, 2018 Dear Mr. Flat5, I have this vinyle-L.p of the drummer..: Jack Sperling ''Fascinatin ' Rhythm''..His drumming-style seams a 'mix' of..: Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich and Louie Bellson.,for the use of the double-bassDrums,. For all I know, the drummer Sperling didn' t cut+registered other records at his-own name,. You surely know that there is a 'strange' coincidence with another drummer with a similar name..: JACK STERLING,..!!. There is the risk to be ''confused''-x->Sperling,+,Sterling.. I have two vinyles of drummer..:1) Jack Sterling,dr Quintet ''Cocktail Swing'' by Harmony-Columbia ,HL7202.. 2)Jack Sterling,dr Quintet ''Music From Gypsy''by Harmony-Columbia ,HL7210..-Please tell me if these vinyles can be of your interest to buy,. Ciao fabio .,Roma .,.- - Quote
