Free For All
All the best in the new location. I take it members can stay with you and you will cook. Come on down! After all my years in the midwest I'm looking forward to having access to FRESH fish & seafood. Jim can visit as long as he leaves the 'bone at home. BERIGAN
Missed this thread the first time as well, great news FFA!!! Don't sweat hurricane season too much in Tallahassee....you might see the remnants of a storm, but like Jacksonville on the other side of the state(Where I lived for 10 years) Hurricanes don't often visit....hope I won't jinx that for you! Free For All
I greatly appreciate all the positive responses. Thanks, folks! how does the different climate affect the sounds of your axes? Elevation and humidity affect the production of sound- the sound itself doesn't really change much at all. Low humidity or cold make the lips dry, requiring some kind of lip balm. No such problem in Florida, there will be PLENTY of moisture to work with. I hate playing outdoors in the summer daytime- I sweat like a pig, and the sweat runs into my eyes making it impossible to read music. A change of elevation usually requires some adjustment- going to a higher elevation makes you feel short of breath until you adjust, but when you come back "down" you feel like you have superlungs! These changes also affect reed-players, especially the humidity factor. A lack of gigs DEFINITELY affects the sound, however.

Free For All
Well, it's all done. All is well in Tallahassee, hot and humid as expected. Last Friday when the movers arrived it was a record 102 degrees. I think I lost about ten pounds over the last week or so, which is fine w/me. Nothing got damaged and all the CDs are unpacked and in their new home. Finally got internet and cable today- I had to resort to the rabbit ears for the weekend and could only get CBS. Wow, CBS really sucks! I'm thankful the moving process and travel went without any problems. It may be hot here, but I'm very thankful for my new job and life. Yet another chapter begins, one that was unexpected. It's nice to be back online, that's for sure.

Dan Gould
Paul, have you started to set your watch by the 4-6 pm thunderstorms yet? Seriously, glad you are all settled in. If I ever make it up there for a football weekend, maybe I can buy you a beer.
Aggie87
Free!!!!! Congrats, buddy! Welcome (back) to the humid south. And remember - those spiders and snakes that look dangerous? They ARE dangerous.

If I ever make it up there for a football weekend, maybe I can buy you a beer. The daily late-afternoon thunderstorm thing has made it a little tricky to know whether or not to fire up the grill. It got "down" to 88 the other day and it felt like 70. Humidity is my new best friend. Apparently.

connoisseur series500
I just came back from a week in Florida and Abaco, Bahamas. Damn, it was hot! Hopefully, Tallahassee is a bit cooler since it is farther up north.
