brownie
Legrand is Grand! Too bad this great album had no sequel! (I'm not a big fan of the 'Dingo' soundtrack album)
alocispepraluger102
Today is his 75th birthday. I'm really spooked by this guy's talent. listened this week to a beautiful cd he did with jessye norman. he did a fabulous one about 30 years ago with 5 or 6 musicians including, cherbourg and windmills. listen to scarlet ribbons and several of 50's vinyls regularly. he captures the spirits of various locales better than anyone i am aware of. (but he wasnt the guy to score the billie movie.) Edited February 24, 2007 by alocispepraluger102
Teasing the Korean
Many of his best albums have not been reissued on CD. Among these gems are: Plays Richard Rodgers (Philips) Instrumental "Young Girls of Rochefort" (UA) Two live albums on RCA, circa 1975 Le Grand Jazz and Le Jazz Grand are both on CD, luckily. Jack Jones (!) did a great all-Legrand album, with Michel's orchestrations, in 1971, and it too is a gem.

Lots of rare stuff that doesn't show up elsewhere. Has "Polly Magoo" made it to DVD yet?
Dave Garrett
Has "Polly Magoo" made it to DVD yet? Not in the US, but if you have a region-free/multistandard DVD player, there is a French DVD available. It's supposed to have English subtitles. Qui ĂȘtes-vous Polly Maggoo? You can also get it from Xploited Cinema for about the same price as Amazon.fr, and probably quite a bit quicker to boot if past experience is any indication. Xploited's a great source for Euro DVDs for those in the US. Polly at Xploited
Teasing the Korean
Since the Cinema Legrand Box Set came out, a companion CD has also been issued: "Le Cinema De Michel Legrand -- Nouvelle Vague" Focusing on his soundtracks for French New Wave films. While some of the main themes appeared on the box set, the new release contains additional music from these films.
