sonnyhill Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 (edited) I stumbled across this site this evening: Jazzitude New Release Page. There is also a heads up on June's upcoming Conn's on that page. Hopefully, it can grow to be as good a resource as Jazzmatazz was. Edited February 19, 2007 by sonnyhill Quote

ghost of miles Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Thanks for the tip--a more readable page IMO than the one at AAJ. I'll bookmark it. Quote
brownie Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Not really a substitute for Jazzmatazz' Upcoming Releases but at least this one is more helpful than what is currently available elsewhere... Thanks for posting a link! Quote

danasgoodstuff Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 (edited) The Stan T sessions mentioned above would make a nice, logical coupling but there's more similar (some unissued) stuff from the same era, I'll have to see if I can copy and paste... danasgoodstuff Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 (edited) All five sessions would probably fit on 2 CDs and complete the issue of all non-rejected ST on BN...except for Look of Love and Always Something There which were out on Applause and could easily both fit on one CD. The mid-sized sessions, the stuff I've heard anyways, are definitely better than Look/Always and even those heavily orchastrated sides aren't too bad. Edited February 19, 2007 by danasgoodstuff Quote
Swinging Swede Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 A 2-CD set with all those sessions is another definite possibility. Even less reason to call it New Time Shuffle in that case! Actually, thinking about it, the last few years each Connoisseur batch has included a double CD. In 2004 it was Horace Silver's United States Of Mind, in 2005 Ike Quebec's Complete 45 Sessions, and in 2006 Lou Blackburn's Complete Imperial Sessions. Is the Turrentine this year's 2-CD set? I'm a bit surprised actually that this hitherto unknown site (to me anyway) has the titles in the upcoming Connoisseur batch, and yet there has been no insider information posted on the Organissimo board about that batch (AFAIK). Usually this board (or the old BNBB pre-2003) has been the first place to read about at least a tentative list. Quote
sonnyhill Posted February 19, 2007 Author Report Posted February 19, 2007 (edited) It is really great that it appears that all of Andrew's 60s sessions will be released. BN now needs to get around to issuing the cds that would complete the contents of the Jackie McLean (High Frequency) and Sam Rivers Mosaic boxes (Dimensions and Extensions, Involution, and A New Conception). I also agree that it is weird that this guy got the drop on us. Information concerning new releases is usually posted on this board first. I don't check out AAJ except for the monthly newspaper, so another resource concerning new releases is welcome. Edited February 19, 2007 by sonnyhill Quote
