Poor Anna getting less respect here than that horse a few days back that everyone jumped on my shit for...

Hmmm....

Anna Nicole:

stripper bimbo of no discernable talent, "famous for being famous", lived a sad, pathetic life. Was a punchline long before she came to a sad end.

Barbaro:

Champion, might have been historically great, suffered hideous accident yet gallantly held on until medical science could do no more.

Aside from the fact that one is a horse and one is a human, I'd say the reactions are fairly normal.

Good comparison. I've also heard that they were both ridden hard and put away wet...

the media fawn over sensational people, chew them up and spit them out. then their cameras appear to photograph, and deplore the gore they have in large measure created.

the way it is...

...and our rabid eyes pore over every scintilla of it.

What does that emoticon, :rfr , signify? I have used it not knowing it meant anything special.

For me the means something like "WTF". :rfr

Cruel to say I know, but the little girl will probably be better off.

You're probably right; however, the fact remains that that was her mother, and she's been robbed of ever knowing her one way or the other. She's the truly innocent victim in all of this.

Anna's life in bullets:

* "Normal" girl from small Texas town

* Playboy Playmate/Playmate of the Year

* Marries ancient billionaire, who dies shortly thereafter

* Never-ending litigation for a piece of the pie

* Wild-child lifestyle, and a "reality" tv series for a while

* Son overdoses and dies while visiting her in Carribean after her daughter was born

* 6 months later she's dead, under unusual circumstances

* Three different men now claim to be the father of her infant child (perhaps wanting to stake a claim towards the ancient billionaire's money) - edit: and one of them being a Prince who's married to Zsa Zsa Gabor

Could that be scripted any more strangely?

Hmmm....

It's sad that either one of these deaths is "news".

Guy

Let's be careful here, Guy.

They are both indeed news.

What I think you mean to say, and forgive me if I'm putting words in your mouth that you don't agree with, is that they should be news of much more limited interest in the grand scheme of things when you consider all of the other shit that is going on in the world.

Yeah, maybe, but with all the other shit not even barely making the news, I feel the same way as Guy does (or have you seen ample media coverage of Bangladesh on the verge of civil war? Or of their annual floods with 100'000s of dead - we just tire of that, and to some extent it's even understandable, but ethically considered, it's still plain wrong).
