rivieraranch Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Does this set include music from the sessions that didn't make it to LP? Yes, it does. The set done at the Blackhawk in 1963 with Gary Burton on vibes could have been a double album but Capitol released it only as a single. There is quite a bit of material from that session that was previously unreleased. The other albums such as Shearing on Stage, On The Sunny Side Of The Strip, San Francisco Scene, etc., are pretty much the same on the MOSAIC set with no additional material. Quote
mikeweil Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 IIRC there are two LPs worth of unreleased tracks from two of the live sessions in the Mosaic box. BTW - I have a soft spot for Shearing's announcements, like the one where he talks about songtitles substituting "lunch" for "love"... Quote

Haven't played it for a couple of years so will have to put that right over the next week. This one is under-rated as a Mosaic I think. Yes agreed. Have the 7 LP Mosaic box. I enjoyed my phone interview with George Shesring, he was also a quick wit. Glad to have seen him perform, with his quintet and also a duo with Neil Swainson. Quote
