Guest youmustbe Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 I was watching the beginning of the movie The Odd Couple, great Neal Hefti score...there's a shot of the awning of the hotel where Jack Lemmon checks in to jump from and commit suicide...Hotel Flanders...that was a hotel that a lot of Jazz musicians stayed in back in the 50's...along with the Bryant, Forrest and the Alvin (or is it Alwyn, can never rememeber) Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 (edited) The Hotel Flanders seems to have been a good place for ending it all Edited January 20, 2007 by Randy Twizzle Quote
Harold_Z Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 The opening scene also has a shot in The Metropole, a one time well known jazz joint, but by the time of "the Odd Couple" the had cut the jazz policy and had bar bands and go go girls. Quote

Man with the Golden Arm Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 I was listening to a 'Hefti in Gotham' "share" a while back and noted how the tune "Mother Gotham" was right outta the Odd Couple. Forgot to check his discography. So, who was the go-to organist Hefti used? Quote

Not a thing !! I worked at the Metropole during the summer of 1968 and I remember the girl that's in the opening shot. Quote
