Adam, I'm trying to hold off going that route. Peter Principle says it'll come out in Japan as a 1500yen release the day after I pay the ripoff artists at i-tunes for it.

It's been out at least once in Japan on cd, which is why iTunes has it.

I have that. To be honest, I've bought other clones of Japanese cds from iTunes (Verve Vault) and they sound nearly identical to Japanese cds I have. Calling iTunes "ripoff artists" sounds inappropriate to my experience, very much so.

i would agree with felzzz on this one.

whoever is selling stuff like the shepp album on itunes is doing it in a classless way.

i mean for that price to get NO useable artwork or discographical information is pretty lame. at least pretend it is a real CD.

now i have a budget ass CD case with a very pixelated cover image i got from allmusic i had to print myself and i wrote in sharpie on the CD-archie shepp things have got to change.

that isn't really the experience i am looking for.

iTunes should check the illegal downloads circulating in filesharing networks, which offer a perfect lossless rip of a CD and high quality scans of the booklet.

If amateurs can do that (it certainly takes less than 30 minutes to prepare such a release, and no special equipment), the biggest music download store should be able to offer the same thing.

exactly.

i am scared this is the future of music purchasing. a shoddy product.

i wish people would not use the itunes store to let them know what they are doing is NOT acceptable.

unfortunately i guess more people are more concerned with their itunes library than the stuff on their shelves.

So far I'm fighting the good fight, have not done i-tunes for the Shepp and Anita O'Day titles I'd really like to have.

I like the session myself.

You do get a perfectly nice cover image from itunes, and it's half the price or less of the Japanese cd prices I've seen. I enjoy making cover art myself. I remain unconvinced, I think it's a stretch to call iTunes a ripoff.

Lon, to each his own on that call. Main point I was making is that I hope to get a CD of the album rather than a download. As far as the session, I think everyone is right. I find "Money" silly, the title track thrilling.
