CJ Shearn Posted January 9, 2007 Author Report Posted January 9, 2007 so..... is this going to be an audience recording? LOL. I already preordered Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 So, Concord has already deleted both of his albums with Jimmy Smith - "Incredible" and "Legacy". Incredible what they're doing with their legacy MG Quote
Soul Stream Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Incredible! is definately worth having for sure, Yesterdays especially. Legacy just makes me sad. Jimmy just is in ill health and it's painful at times to listen to. The intended spirit of the recording is there, but it reminds me a lot of the Lester Young recording just before he passed. This isn't a knock, Jimmy and Joey are giants. I want to remember Jimmy the way he was 99.99999999% of his life....devestating the B3 and destroying all comers. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted January 9, 2007 Author Report Posted January 9, 2007 CDUniverse still has them. I don't think their OOP yet. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 CDUniverse still has them. I don't think their OOP yet. So, why don't they appear on the Concord site? Is this just another example of how poor the site is? MG Quote

The Magnificent Goldberg Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 http://concordmusicgroup.com/artists/album/?id=2501 http://concordmusicgroup.com/artists/album/?id=744 there ya go MG Thanks - I have them anyway. I just thought it was strange on a JDF discography page that they didn't appear; concluding they were deleted. But of course, it's just another piece of evidence that they don't ave a decent system (either tech or knowledgeable people) which can tie all these different records up. MG Quote
CJ Shearn Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 I have them too. My opinion of Legacy differs a bit from Soulstream, I think it's a great send off. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 i really like joey d and crew's version of ceora.... especially when joey d takes over Quote
Soul Stream Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Still listening to this and....what can you say....the best of the best, playing their best. Unbelievable music on this. George Coleman should be on Mount Rushmore. Quote
MartyJazz Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 (edited) Can't say I've ever really been into jazz organ despite owning a few Jimmy Smith records, but after seeing Joey D here in Ft. Lauderdale a couple of weeks ago, I was really knocked out. So much so, I ordered via CD Now (Amazon) the ORGANIC VIBES (with Hutcherson) and AUTHORIZED BOOTLEG cds which just arrived yesterday. Really digging them both. JD is a great player who I hope will play a long time, my way of saying he's gotta drop some weight big time. Meantime, I plan to seriously revisit my Jimmy Smith sides.
