Alexander Hawkins Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 ...I just launched my website. It's fairly rudimentary (still figuring out how to build the things, etc.), but it has some sound samples, a nascent blog, etc. Would be great if anyone fancied taking a look! Quote
Alexander Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 I didn't know that you were a fellow Alexander! Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 Yeah - you just beat me to it by a few days! Quote

Alexander Hawkins Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 Dude, did you know that you're a doctor? [Many also think I'm crazy for having law degrees and working as a musician... ] Quote
JSngry Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Dude, did you know that you're a doctor? [Many also think I'm crazy for having law degrees and working as a musician... ] Ironically enough, last month I worked two different gigs with two different bassists, both of whom were practicing lawyers. They acted like they didn't need the money... Quote

Alexander Hawkins Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 Oops - brain's working slow. [it's late here! - ] Quote
rostasi Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Nice site. Thanks so much for the link to Misha Mengelberg's cat playing the piano! Wonderful in soooo many ways! Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 It's a great film, isn't it??? [You get the feeling it would have got out of hand if Han was around. Can a cat be played..? Sure he'd find a way.] Quote
brownie Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Very nice!!! But where is that Misha Mengelberg piano-playing cat? Could not find it Already heard Mengelberg's parrot on that Dolphy album and got to catch that cat! Quote
couw Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 But where is that Misha Mengelberg piano-playing cat? Could not find it look under the "blog" link for a post titled "Pief" Quote

sidewinder Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Bonjour et Merci, couw! Makes my day Awesome - almost like Candid-period Cecil Taylor. Quote
brownie Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Awesome - almost like Candid-period Cecil Taylor. I am quite convinced that Cecil Taylor was a cat in an earlier life Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 I love the way the cat looks around beyond the piano, but decides he's actually quite intrigued by this thing making noise under his feet...settles down again, only to be returned to the world of cat by his friend! Is this the footage that's on the new ICP DVD, I wonder (which includes Brxton guesting with the ICP orchestra!)? p.s. with the sound of the piano, if it's not a missing Candid take, it's from the Nefertiti gig! sheldonm Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Cool stuff, thanks for posting!!! Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted April 2, 2008 Author Report Posted April 2, 2008 Have just updated this a bit...still rudimentary, but a little tidier maybe! Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted April 4, 2008 Author Report Posted April 4, 2008 p.s. can anyone suggest why I might have a broken link instead of the image on the homepage??? I can't figure it out! Quote
Robert J Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 Alex - it seems to be pointing to your local URL - ie, your home computer. Try and ftp it to the same directory as your other images on the site Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted April 4, 2008 Author Report Posted April 4, 2008 I'll try that - thank you! Quote
