T.D. Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) George Adams 'Complete Black Saint & Soul Note' (CAM) Rediscovering the sessions with Don Pullen... discovering the sessions with Jimmy Knepper! It's a good one! I've bought quite a few of the Black Saint/Soul Note boxes, and the Pullen and Adams boxes are the ones I listen to most often. Edited December 13, 2012 by T.D. Quote

sidewinder Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 disc one of the 3CD edition Wonderful set, so underestimated as a chronicle of improvisation at it's best. I only have the LP and would like to get the discs. Looks like the box is selling for around $100 at Amazon UK. This 3CD set is great ! It came and went pretty fast in that Verve Elite and even then took some finding I recall. Quote

Bluesnik Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Not a boxset properly, just a 2 cd set from the now famous Doubletime Series. But the concept is like a boxset: everything Sonny Clarke and Grant Green did as a quartet for Blue Note. And wasn't there sometime a Mosaic along these lines? Quote

Yes, but it also included the material Green & Clark recorded with Ike Quebec around the same time. If I could only keep 10 jazz CDs, this would be one. Quote
