Shopping expotition to Cardiff today, accompanied by ipod with

Cab Calloway - The early years: 1930-34 - JSP

Cab Calloway - 1935-40 - JSP

Just finished disc 1 of the later volume when I arrived home. Now on disc 2

Calloway is AMAZING! This set keeps revealing new stuff to me, every time I give it a listen - and that's fairly frequently.

Ornette Coleman - Beauty is a Rare Thing: Complete Atlantic Recordings. I'm listening to all the July, 1960 tracks (with Cherry, Haden & Blackwell) which were not released at the time on This is Our Music. Pretty amazing - plenty of stuff here is every bit as good as the music they picked at the time.

J J Johnson: Eight Classic Albums containing The Eminent Jay Jay Johnson, Vols 1& 2; J is for Jazz; The Great Kai & JJ;Blue Trombone; A Touch of Satin; JJ Inc; First Place. This on the Real Gone Jazz label, of which I now own a dozen titles in the series. No frills, good sound, low prices and I get to listen to some music I hadn't heard before. A collector's dream. My dad owned Blue Trombone, several Kai & JJ lp, JJ Inc. He had great taste in jazz and passed on the love for the music to me.

Wayne Shorter: The Complete Columbia Albums Collection. Two discs are comprised of Shorter compositions performed by Weather Report, Native Dancer (one of my favorites, period), Atlantis, Phantom Navigator, Joy Rider. Picked this up in Used/Like New condition for $22-a superb bargain.
