king ubu
Now the end of disc 4 with the "Trio Live" sessions - great! I prefer the sound of this trio over the Peacock/Motian one on "Trio '64", can't say why, but Israels/Bunker is one of my favourite Evans trios. The date with Getz is alright, but this is an instant where I could happily live without some of the bits included in the box. Elvin is interesting, though! sidewinder
Milt Jackson - The Complete Savoy Recordings I wish... But I'm listening to the individual albums at least. The one to get is the vinyl Arista/Savoy twofer for the wonderful albums with Lucky Thompson ! 3 LPs are squeezed on there, I think. It's the Coltrane / Milt Jackson session, which I dig very much. The version of Diz's "Be-Bop" on the "Bags & Trane" album here absolutely smokes. If somebody could tell me how to insert pictures properly, it would be much appreciated. This attached thumbnails thingy looks awful! The only way to insert a picture is for it to be on the web somewhere, with a URL. So you can find an existing picture out there somewhere, or if it's your own picture, you can upload it to one of the hosting websites (imageshack etc) and use that URL when you insert the image (using the "tree" button when you're typing your post). Hot Ptah
Doctors Professors Kings and Queens, A Big Ol' Box of New Orleans This 4 CD set contains many jazz cuts, mixed with New Orleans rhythm and blues, zydeco and other styles. The jazz cuts are fine. The set as a whole knocks me out. It is one of the most fun listening experiences I know of.
Hot Ptah
The Complete Horo Records Recordings Who would have thought that when this was finally reissued on CD, that the box set would sound so good, have such a lavish booklet (love the full color reproductions of the front and back covers!) and cost so little? At last, to have all of Horo in one place.
