J Larsen Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 The Condon Mob box is now running low. He means "Last Chance." You know, I think that eye roll thing is pretty rude and unneccesary. I obviously made a small, easy to parse out error in the course of taking a couple minutes out of an extremely busy day at work to post what I thought might be valuable information to a couple people around here. right back at you. I'll see your and raise you one . Sorry, didn't mean to be rude--just trying to make a correction with a smile. I guess I picked the wrong one. I just wanted to make sure that people who still want this set are aware that it has moved from "running low" to "last chance" so they don't miss the chance to get it. time for a group hug! Quote
Ron S Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 (edited) As long as I don't have to hug that guy with the beret and the funky beard. EDIT: OK, maybe I'll think about it (let's see who gets this one). Edited January 17, 2007 by Ron S Quote
Swinging Swede Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Actually, as of now, the Condon Mob set is in both the Last Chance category and the Running Low category! So perhaps when the Last Chance copies have sold out you may still be able to get the Running Low ones... Quote

king ubu Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 with their horrendous 30$ of shipping for whatever you order... Maybe us 'Yurapeans' should club together and buy a ticket for someone (me? ) to go over to Stamford and buy a bulk purchase of sets for us all, in person, and maybe save money on P&P? Hey, wait, I'm not a yurapeeen, I'm a Swiss! But then it seems in the constant saga of bilateral treaties and the voluntary follow-up implementation (of EU legislation in Switzerland), the Swiss have now completed some kind of agreement that brings us back into all these EU statistics, and thus out of our invisibility... Big Beat Steve Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 EDIT: Don't you mean you couldn't care less? and me, I don't give a bull... Yeah, just like others couldn't care less about some of those post-hard-bop-blop-blah Mosaic box sets :D No, seriously, it's nice to see not only the modernists but also the traditionalists are graced with this kind of reissues. But though my jazz tastes probably run a bit closer to this kind of music than King Ubu's I can do without that one too... That assorted Condon Commodore and CBS vinyl will do for a long time ... yet, coming to think of it, I recently got me "We Called It Music" on eBay and picked it up as my evening read yesterday so who knows ... king ubu Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Hey, wait, I was just reacting to their stoopid post-count dialogue... I already have ordered the Condon Mob and have been proud owner of the Capitol box for several years! Not my main area of music, but I like it, and I am a fan of Mosaic boxes, in general... but you're right, it seems like a lot of that ole hardbop is about as content-laden as Aggie & Ron's banter above... king ubu Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 my mob's sheeping now! looking forward to it, I was totally unaware there were any Lee Wiley cuts on it before checking the discography out when this thread was started... I love Lee Wiley! Quote
mikelz777 Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 I was really tempted to pick up the Condon Mob set but in the end, couldn't justify spending that much money on another Mosaic. To assuage my hunger for music in that vein I went on the cheap and picked up the Membran Quadromania sets for Pee Wee Russell, Bill Davison, Bobby Hackett and Kid Ory. That's 16 CDs worth of material for around $30-$35.00. I'm very happy with the quality and content of all the sets with the single exception of one of the Ory discs which has a live set that is a bit rough. Those four sets coupled with my JSP Eddie Condon box set will keep me pretty well set for that Chicago/Dixieland/New Orleans flavor of jazz for quite some time. Quote

J.A.W. Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 The Capitol Jazz set now has also been added to the Last Chance. Mosaic's Scott Wenzel just told me there are 40 sets left. Quote
Van Basten II Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Just bought one along the Gillespie and Eldridge set with some selects. Will wait til the end of the year to get the Ellington and Berry set. Quote

Van Basten II Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Wow, they did sell out fast, bought mine with the serial number 2745, does that mean they sold 2000 boxsets in 5 or 6 days Quote
HolyStitt Posted March 10, 2007 Author Report Posted March 10, 2007 Wow, they did sell out fast, bought mine with the serial number 2745, does that mean they sold 2000 boxsets in 5 or 6 days It probably means the set was timed out, meaning they did not press more of the set. Quote
J.A.W. Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 The Classic Capitol Jazz Sessions set is now OOP. Quote
